  • In addition you can contact them towards the end of the month and ``refresh" the regular saver again to get full advantage from the account term beginning at the end of the month.

I did this in April, refreshed on 5/4/24 to get the interest paid in the 23-24 tax year and refreshed again on 30/4/24 to push the bulk of the interest to the 25-26 tax year and to eek a bit more interest out of the Small Saver.

Additionally the interest earned in those 3-4 weeks has remained in the Small Saver.
Bridlington1 Thank you for the suggestion. We are in October, so tax year manoeuvring is not possible.
What did you ask them to do, when you intended to ''refresh''?
As far as i understand, refreshing/ opening the reg saver on the 30th of the month, ensures that in the 12 th month, full/max amount earns interest for entire month, thus generating more interest. Is it right?

Tilton and Coseley BS:- Regular Saver maturing on 31st October 2024

    Has anyone received letter/email from T & C with maturity options/information?

As highlighted in earlier posts, the app is now set up to record maturity options but there is no information as to what the options are.
They would normally contact with maturity options two weeks in advance.  Nothing to worry about yet :)

I just phoned and asked them to restart the Small Saver. I think I mentioned I was wanting the interest paid the following tax year and they then refreshed the account, it was quite a simple process.

Refreshing at the end of the month raises the average balance of your account (assuming it's fully funded) since you end up pushing your deposits to earlier on in the account term and thus generating more interest overall. You end up spending the last 2 calendar months with a balance of £600 (maximum balance of the Small Saver), rather than just the last month.

West Brom Regular Saver - Has anyone (from outside the local area) tried opening an easy access account -to become a member - and then opened the regular saver?

Yes - EA opened just after Christmas and then the RS was dated 2 January.

Yes, I grabbed the West Brom Four Access Saver (Issue 1)  at 4.9% which I thought might be useful since rates are dropping on so many Easy & Limited access accounts and more importantly for me it was a very easy stepping stone to the RS so that I didn't need to travel to a branch since I'm out of area. Opened the 4 access, got immediate online access and the following day opened the RS. Unfortunately that EA account went NLA very quickly. Can definitely confirm should they launch another issue, its a decent route to become an existing customer to access the RS. There may be other EA options to become existing member but not currently at a decent rate.

    West Brom
Yes, opened EA 27th Dec & RS 8th Jan
  • Received an email from Coop bank about rate reductions earlier. Good news is the reg saver with 7% remains at it's current rate.

Anyone know what Market Harborough are upto because I can't access their online services & there's nothing till 10th October scheduled.

Wanted to check if my money was credited from yesterday.
    Wondering the same.

I topped Melton up to £200 yesterday (within normal working hours, but later than I’d have liked due to funds not arriving from HRBS particularly promptly - but still earlier than Monmouthshire.) It is dated processed today but listed as posted yesterday, so wondering if the account is likely to accept £200 this month?
I've sent money yesterday (evening) and today (this afternoon) to MHBS, just have to see if anything gets returned and/or hope they sort their website out to login etc, otherwise I'll call them tomorrow or something.

Not the best of starts for me with them, hopefully it will get better soon.

Meanwhile it's taking ages to get setup back up again with Monmouthshire due to postal system & still being in their system & having to reset things etc 😌
It seems my two lots of £250 have been credited although in description they are showing as standing orders?.

That's clearly wrong as I sent via normal bank transfer from my Virgin Money app.

Not sure what Clrd Sav Rcpt means either for transaction type.

    Cleared Savings Receipt maybe?

Also on a minor note did MHBS update their branding and forget to change it when you login?
