Just went to open an HSBC regular saver, and found this is showing as 5%, not 7%. Has it changed, or am I looking in the wrong place?2

It does indeed show 5%. Either an error or they pulled the 7% already.

it's showing as 5% in Moneyfacts with a broken logo icon - which is usually a sign that the listing has been updated today... it looks like you might have missed the 7% rate by a day or two.Fingerbobs said:Just went to open an HSBC regular saver, and found this is showing as 5%, not 7%. It was showing as 7% on Moneyfacts just before I posted on here, so it has been updated within the last half hour or sojanusdesign said:

One to watch for UK Savings Week next year then - it looks like they bumped the rate for a month.

That's disappointing from HSBC, I actually thought they might keep it at 7% after they made a point of increasing it from 5% on their site.1

It's quite natural to make such assumption because normally major banks don't change their RS rates very often. I've learned to assume that the offer might be taken off the shelf next day after launch so I apply straight away and have never been disappointed with this strategy. Sometimes it is better to delay an application, but I prefer not to take any chances.jameseonline said:That's disappointing from HSBC, I actually thought they might keep it at 7% after they made a point of increasing it from 5% on their site.7 -
That's a nuisance. I was holding off opening one to spread out maturing regular savers this time next year. That'll learn me!Fingerbobs said:Just went to open an HSBC regular saver, and found this is showing as 5%, not 7%. Has it changed, or am I looking in the wrong place?
I'd better open the Nationwide 6.5% one before that disappears!I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -

I'd better open the Nationwide 6.5% one before that disappears!I'm with you but for TSB, mine matures on the 10th October and wanted to wait until the 31st so I could make a 1ST of November payment as well, but looks like they might be dropping. So will just renew on same day.1 -
