Ybs 50gbp 8% done, all of 8 mins on the ybs website. HSBC done yesterday, so now up to 25 active rsa s.  Thanks for tips on here, well worth it as easy access rates are falling away.
Re YBS — seem to be having technical issues... shows the account, I can log online etc, but when applying for the £50 Regular eSaver, it says it's no longer available!

Re HSBC — closed the old 5% RS account via chat yesterday ... or so I thought, it hadn't at all, they just transferred my balance to my current account, issued some paltry interest to the RS and it's still showing and I'm still unable to apply for the 7% RS. Am on chat again, yawn...
I am in EXACTLY the same situation. I was told it would all be closed and transferred overnight, but it wasnt.

So I have contacted chat again who told me to call an 03457 number, they told me to give it 24 to 48 hours.
  • Anyone know if YBS have changed things in regards to opening an account?.

Because usually when I try to open accounts it will say carrying out further checks, will show account in app, then a few days later let me fund it.

This time none of that, just an email saying I need to upload ID.

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but they already had my upto date address and obviously my previous when I updated my details.
This is what happened when I last opened an account. I had to take id. Into branch.

I have 7 YBS accounts currently, though 5 only with £1 balances, as the rates don't warrant using them.

I'm not confident that they would not ask for id. again, so am hesitant to apply only to have the account showing but unusable unless further id. is provided. If this was a more generous regular saver I'd probably take the chance.

Their system is melting under the pressure, entirely as expected. I suspect Nationwide will be similarly broken if they release a new account in a couple of weeks too.
Seems that way. Maybe next time, they should offer it in advance or first to their existing customers (those who have been with YBS for, say, a year or so) and then open it up to others? Might help their systems cope...

I seem to recall the same happened this time last year when they launched their Loyalty Regular Saver. I would guess that a majority of people signing up for this account already deal with YBS.

They probably just need to improve their scalability to cope with surges in demand, or build in a queue or something. Or do nothing because they know ultimately rate chasers will do exactly that!

Like others I tried to open the YBS 8% RS, but got a spinning wheel to say they can't access my details at the moment. Then when I go back it says the account is NLA. And I am already a customer of theirs. Oh well, it's only a £50 limit.
  • How long does it take for YBS to show the £50 online in the app? paid in using their open banking facility and seems like they route it all through Natwest.
  • Re: YBS 8% Regular Saver, I thought it worth mentioning, for those thinking of applying, that upon successful application, you have 42 days to make your initial deposit.
I didn't see that when reading the pdf's as it was only mentioned at the end of the application process... could be useful for those wanting to open now (in case it goes NLA), but fund at a later point.
AFAIK the YBS account will mature 12 months after you open it, not after you first fund it.  Therefore I think it could make good sense to fund the account immediately upon opening, in order to start earning the 8% interest, and not wait for many days/weeks. Providing, of course, that you can immediately lay your hands on £50.
good point, it is started upon opening - though for £26 a year, I doubt i'd lose much sleep if I had to delay for a day or two!  :)   technically, you only need £1 to open it.

It can take an hour or so.

    YBS 8%

Have jst tried to open through app, it struggled to access my details and then had message that it was no longer available.

YBS have sent me an email just now offering a free savings review by phone?? May just be coincidence though?
Ha they've sent me a savings review email too.

Mind you I have a regular savings account ending soon so it might be to do with that.

Also the email specifically mentions UK Savings Week along with We're delighted you're already saving with us & that I can book in my local branch (Cardiff) or via phone.

So clearly YBS know me yet want me to go through ID to open a £50 a month account.

Same here, I had to contact them this morning to see if they were actually going to close it as I too was told it'd be closed yesterday night.
