    Virgin Money Exclusive Regular Saver

Many thanks to whoever first posted about this.

    Opened and funded.

Probably the most exciting day for Regular Saver fans for at least a decade.

Funny how it has come on the day that the base rate dropped for the first time since March 2020.
I agree, let's hope it prompts a few other banks to launch some new Regular Savers with impressive rates (probably won't, but we can dream!).

Switched my Virgin current account to Nationwide for the switch bonus on 2/7/24. Have reopened a Virgin Current Account today just a month later 😂 along with the Regular Saver and funded it, all went without a hitch 😁

Wife currently in Hong Kong but she managed to open a Virgin current a/c and fund the 10% Reg saver all online within 20mins!

Am I missing something, or have Skipton decided to leave the rates on their Regular Savers alone whilst cutting everything else by 0.25% or thereabouts?

I had forgotten just how bad Virgin's IT is, and why I closed my accounts with them.

I've spent about two hours trying to set up and fund their new RS.

Had problems setting up because it created a new user profile, and I couldn't apply with the old one.

Same email address for both profiles was causing issues.

Finally opened the current account and the new regular saver, but unable to fund the accounts as they are not live on whatever database the Faster Payments systems reference.  Tried to fund from Chase, Barclays, NatWest, Santander, and Lloyds.

The interest rate may be fantastic, but honestly, the additional interest is not worth two hours of my time.

The recent 7.5% and 7% regular savers that Skipton have offered pay a fixed rate of interest so these rates can't be changed until the end of their terms.

The Home Deposit Saver at 5.06% was only launched recently, so I'm assuming they may have taken into account a possible interest rate cut when setting the rate.

The 7% Member Regular Saver at 7% is still available though... for now.

Looks like Virgin are thinking about doing a regular saver soon, but might be limited to customers who opened a current account before a certain date

Thank you. I was thinking about switching away, but will hang on for now

And an extra special thank you @pokemaster, a way better rate than expected

Thank you @Bridlington1 - I took your advice about not funding the Home Deposit Saver (until just now) to extend the maturity date, so hopefully that account will prove to be a longer term winner.

    Nationwide Flex RS 2 NLA
If you examine Flex RS 3 it has a minimum balance of £1 and a maximum balance of £5 million. This is because the regular saver morphs into an instant access account. Thus, it allows a 13th payment of £200 giving a grand total of £2600 in the 13th month. Flex RS 2 is a similar account with similar conditions but only 6.5% interest.
I reiterate that adding a 13th payment only gives about £1 extra interest at 8%, so I rarely contribute a 13th payment.
Note that the interest for either account is variable, in light of today's change in the BoE rate.
