That's what it will do on the app, but it also directs you to apply via the website and when you do that it doesn't direct you to log in. I went through the same thing, and also left the linked saver behind (although I assume that got taken care of by dormancy rules).trickydicky14 said:masonic said:
I don't know about an email address, but I had the same issue as I didn't have any active accounts. I needed to apply as a new customer.schiff said:Has anyone got an email address for Virgin customer services? I'm struggling to log on - I know my customer number and password but they aren't accepted. Severe deafness restricts using the phone. TIAI attempted to open a new CA and got the ‘we recognise you’ message. The problem is I did have two CA with Virgin and moved both of them some time back but the linked saver account still exists to this day with nothing in it. So it will not let me open a new account without logging in and I can’t find my old details.

People who came via Clydesdale/Yorkshire may still have a customer number for access to the current account system. My old YB customer number still works Ok.kaMelo said:schiff said:Has anyone got an email address for Virgin customer services? Some of these live chat bots do eventually recognise that you need a person - but not this one. I've pleaded in capitals for a person, then I'm obliged to choose from five irrelevant topics. And it is just immovable and stubborn. I might try a letter!

I got given a new customer number to log in with at the end of my current account application. At no point was I asked to set a username. I did have a username for my old profile though.

Not sure it’s been mentioned but the RS account with VM pays interest 4 times a year… for those trying to manage their PSA limit (as I am!).“We’ll add any interest on the last working day in March, June, September, and December.”10

Virgin Money Regular Saver Exclusive
Changed my employment information whilst doing the application yesterday which was clearly a mistake as it meant a human would have to review the application.
Had two emails today heralding "good news" about "an update to the application" however when I do log in, these just ends in an eternal loading screen.
Have left a secure message to see if they can resolve the issue.0 -
VM.gelato_cat said:Note that under ithe VM additional info it says "You can only have one Regular Saver Exclusive at any time, this includes joint accounts" - wonder if that means that each individual can only have one RS, rather than you can only have one RS per current account.
https://uk.virginmoney.com/savings/products/regular_saver_exclusive_issue_1/#additional-information.
Time will tell - inclined to leave for now. Haven't funded either RS yet - going to do so shortly.
Yes, in their T&Cs it says:What is the maximum number of accounts I can have? You’re only able to have one of these accounts in your own name or held jointly with another.
I've opened and funded two in my own name, one from my Clydesdale profile and another from Yorkshire.1 -
Damn. I hadn't spotted that 😟myth123 said:Not sure it’s been mentioned but the RS account with VM pays interest 4 times a year… for those trying to manage their PSA limit (as I am!).“We’ll add any interest on the last working day in March, June, September, and December.”
So about £75 in the current tax year then.
I will have to empty my Santander Edge account in December to compensate for that.
Many thanks for highlighting it.0 -
I am experiencing very similar issues with their antiquated IT system... And the customer service is pretty dire, unlike say, Skipton Building Society, who are excellent in this domain.Nick_C said:I had forgotten just how bad Virgin's IT is, and why I closed my accounts with them.
I've spent about two hours trying to set up and fund their new RS.
Had problems setting up because it created a new user profile, and I couldn't apply with the old one.
Same email address for both profiles was causing issues.
Finally opened the current account and the new regular saver, but unable to fund the accounts as they are not live on whatever database the Faster Payments systems reference. Tried to fund from Chase, Barclays, NatWest, Santander, and Lloyds.
The interest rate may be fantastic, but honestly, the additional interest is not worth two hours of my time.2 -

I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0
