    Saffron BS / Stafford Railway
Yesterday I had to close 2 RS for emergency funds. Phoned Saffron and full amount was in my current account by mid-afternoon. Whereas Stafford Railway needed me to print a form, post it with passbook and recent bank statement.
    Hats off to Saffron efficiency.
Saffron are decent, seems Stafford are still really old fashioned, Monmouthshire are old fashioned too but slowly getting more modern in terms of digital

    Monmouthshire BS Regular Savers

Just a heads up for anyone who opened one or both of the Monmouthshire regular savers last August. I hadn’t logged into my online account since September and tried to do so yesterday, but got a message saying my password had expired and they will send a new code out by post … I thought it would be worth mentioning as the maturity dates approach so people can sort their online access out in good time!
Mines hasn’t expired but I’m pretty sure I’ve logged in most months. Do you return passbook on maturity? That could be an issue,

I had the Christmas Regular Saver from December 2022 - December 2023 and didn’t have to return the passbook. I kept it open with a minimal balance in case a future launch said existing customer of 1 year+ rather than just existing customer. I can’t comment therefore on whether they’d want the passbook returned in the case of closure.

Before a RS ends, Monmouthshire send you a letter with your maturity options.

This includes a QR code/webpage where you can submit your instructions online with no need to return the passbook.

If you submit your instructions by post then I believe they ask for the passbook

I had 2 MonBS accounts matured and didn't need to return passbooks. Like most BSs, they morph matured RS accounts into Easy Saver and then you can withdraw from there.

Is interest added to this product at weekends, or would it just be the next working day after the anniversary date please? Thanks
I've had interest credited to issue 2 on a Saturday, so would imagine issue 1 works the same.

Monmouthshire BS Regular Savers - does anyone know if 13th payments are permitted?  I have the 8% Exclusive Regular Saver and the 7% Regular Saver (issue 2) which are maturing next month for me.  I have £3600 in each already, I've had a look at the archived pages for them and can't see any reference to a max amount that can be paid in, or any mentions of whether 13th payments are or aren't allowed.  So I'm guessing it's fine to take them both to £3900 on 1st August, but thought I'd see if anyone here knows for sure.

We will only known for sure after next month! I'm chancing it as others are. There is no maximum balance stipulated in the T&Cs

I've had many regular savers but I can't remember a single one that's actually mentioned a 13th payment. Therefore if no maximum balance is indicated, then the £x per calendar month rule must allow it.
