    Re Progressive
A very nice lady (maybe the same one) got back to me today and stayed on the phone whilst I got through registration and I was then able to login. I have transferred this months money into my new account using my Halifax debit card but when I try to use the same account to set up the monthly standing order I get the client details not validated message.
Do we know what bank accounts apart from First Direct work as I am trying to avoid a double transfer to pay in from next month.
Did you put Progressive Building Society as payee and selected it as business?

Has anyone enabled logging in with the method so many other societies use - a code texted to your phone and avoiding this authenticator stuff?
Yes I have.  You don't have to opt for authenticator.

I did when I finally found the sort code and account number and then used my account number as a reference. Halifax complained that the 11 digit reference number did not match but I can't see that being an issue as that is what Progressive asked me to provide.
Following on from other posters I have set up my Santander account as my nominated account for withdrawal. Maybe in 11 or 12 months time i'll be able to change this if necessary, but i'm not planning on taking the money out in a hurry.
Thanks everyone for their help - just a senior moment thinking I needed the nominated account for my monthly standing order.

Not what you asked I know but if you click the right buttons in Progressive's app code setup, you can make it show a QR or written code that works with any industry standard two factor app (Google Authenticator, Authy, I think Apple Keychain now, most password managers), no need to download the Salesforce Authenticator app cause we all have enough apps as it is.

As a computer security nerd I actually quite like that, it's the only bank/BS I know that does it, not the biggest fan of SMS because of the SIM swapping potential.

The Summary information for the Saver says that it accepts payments from "other" bank accounts, so yes.

I think in the early days there were issues funding CO Operative Regular Saver from non CO Operative accounts but I've always funded it from Virgin Money into my CO Operative Current Account then transfer into the regular

Admittedly not the question you asked, but authenticators are far superior.  It's a real shame that so few financial organisations have embraced them, and rely on text messages instead.  Text messages are better than nothing, but we've known about their limitations for years now.

Yes, you can.  I send my payments manually from Ulster Loyalty Saver.
