But where's the bit that says you can miss a payment? I know it's in the linked PDF (dated 10/23).
And the words '..stay between £25 - 250' are new afaics.

I dunno why I join in sometimes... I have no intention of missing any payments..
But the terms online DO seem to have changed...
  • I’m going to fund the Halifax RS by bank transfer only.  No Standing Order.
I’ve spent enough time thinking over the T&Cs and so have all of you who have commented and helped! Many thanks.

Halifax will probably be quite happy with the external bank transfer!!

Their email said they'd try again on Monday 8th, but funds are still in my account with no attempted DD. Normally they'd have gone by now. Anyone had them successfully taken yet this morning please?

No, perhaps they are gonna have to do them all manually? Maybe see if anything happens during opening hours.

The clearing and settlement period for Direct Debits means the bank paying the Direct Debit would have received the file on Friday. It's up to them when they apply it to accounts. There is no facility to manually pull a Direct Debit during the working day.

So either the banks are causing a delay (have other DDs gone out?), or they haven't submitted the BACS file.

    Managing this account

    • You can save £25 - £250 every month by one standing order. This needs to reach your account before the 25th of the month. You can also make a bank transfer to top up your savings as long as the total amount of your deposits does not exceed the monthly limit of £250. The amount that you save each month can vary but needs to stay between the £25 to £250 monthly limit
    • You can only have one Regular Saver.

The above terms were received this evening by email from Halifax after signing up to the Regular Saver.
They are clearly saying that you must save at least £25 each month.
Are they also now saying that the regular monthly credit must be done with only one SO, and if less than £250 it can be topped up by an external or Halifax bank transfer to the account?

These terms are somewhat different from the terms posted by MDMD.
Maybe new terms for this year!!
This is common with regular savers.  There are many with conflicting terms or wording, and the banks' computers allow you to operate the accounts in ways contradictory to the terms as well.

They still haven't taken the direct debit from me either!

I don't know what the Co-Op have done, but I am unable to transfer the £250 from my current account to my regular saver this month.  Have had to set it up as a new payee, and even then its not saving the payee!

I have also found this.  I set up the regular saver as a new payee for the March payment but had to set it up again for the April payment and it's still not saved.  Next month I think I'll set it up from an external account.
