Not sure what you are doing.
I just made a payment directly into the regular saver.
Then set up a Direct Debit from my bank.

Go to your YBS reg saver, click on it.
Top right Green i, click it.
Account number and sort code are shown.
Transfer £500 tonight and £500 tomorrow.
Then on the 2nd set up a dd for the 1st of December.

I should have been more patient... deposit now showing in YBS dated 31st Oct so all set to make second deposit tomorrow.
  • Who are the usual suspects for “Christmas Saver” RS accounts? I could do with opening something in the next month or so for the next rung in my RS “ladder” but I’ve run out of competitive accounts that I’m eligible for… nice problem to have I know!
If my memory serves me well Principality BS, Monmouthshire BS and YBS offered Christmas regular savers last year in that order. I can't think of any others that did last year though.
My Principality BS Christmas Regular Saver account matures on 11th November and I have been offered a new Christmas Loyalty RS at 6.25%. I have decided to open a loyalty account.
  • Could be wrong but I don't remember Principality BS offering maturity loyal accounts in the past .  Is it a recent thing with them?

Might well be. I had a previous year’s version which I kept at lowish balance (the rate became uncompetitive quite early on thankfully) and there was no Loyalty offering. The accounts offered in the maturity paperwork were either underwhelming or open to everyone.

Typical, the year I close early to fund a fix = loyalty offering!
  • Aldermore regular saver has now been launched at 5.25% variable
£300 max deposit per calender month
Unlimited withdrawals to nominated bank account
    Account matures after 12 months
Unattractive rate an flexible interest rate with only 14 days notice period. No advantage compared to easy access accounts.

Probably as its a BS, they do seem to not be instant, though it does show up usually within an hour. If you do transfer via debit card it won't get credited until it's cleared - e.g 3 days. Just in case you try this option.

It will get credited, but it won't earn interest.  Do it Monday to Wednesday, and you are losing 2 days interest.

DC Deposits can be useful for people struggling to reach the £500 needed on multiple Halifax Reward Current Accounts.  You are losing less than 10p a day in interest on the YBS Loyalty Regular Saver.
