anotherquestion said:Just imagine nowadays if you had to pay for the call charges when you are on net,how high the bill would be.
I think when I ran up a £40 bill when I got the first internet box from Argos in early 2000 I soon left it back, it just gave you internet through your TV. Bought a PC soon after.
Maybe we could broaden the thread a little and discuss the cost of your first PC.
Mine was £1500 from Mesh including printer and scanner in 2000.
Remember Tiny and Time pc makers, think they used to have a lot of high st shops as well.
Looks like it's still going too lol http://www.bushinternet.com/0 -

It wasn't so long ago, we couldn't get Sky BB in the road at the time - oh the joy when we could, Be. connection was utter rubbish.1 -
Depends on your definition of the internet. Are we talking about the infrastructure or what you access via a web browser which is actually the World Wide Web that sits on top of the internet?
If it's the internet then I'd actually been online since 1983 with Prestel but that was more a BBS with email over the internet. I was a member of Compuserve the day the WWW was lauched so I'd say Compuserve if we're talking about the WWW.0 -

No need to act smart.
But then again an ISP lets you access the internet as a whole, not just WWW sites.1 -
yeah does not stipulate WWW just the internet so it covers anything using TCP/IP protocol.0
