The Compers Inn (part 49)

Afternoon everyone. I’ve just finished watching another Xmas film, something I would never normally do until December! It’s actually been calming and helping me while I was laid up with covid when I could be bothered to watch. Sheils, your GS is gorgeous and I bet you will spoil him at Xmas! Roll on the day when covid is a thing of the past and we can get to see family & friends and get back to some normality. I saw that boots were doing the 6hr testing but at a cost. I wouldn’t chance paying this as you could test negative and then the day after have symptoms and be positive. My test was 9am then I got notified 6.20 am next day. DH tested negative but only lost tastebuds. My symptoms were up & down with breathlessness, lethargy, aching muscles, no appetite, temperature, sore eyes, ulcers in mouth, very dry skin, backache, headaches, coughing and kept getting weird smell of gas and petrol. There was a couple of days I hadn’t moved out of bed and couldn’t even eat or drink. I’ve got most of my energy back and no longer contagious but still getting back ache, breathlessness and I’ve got constant tinnitus. I think my kids also had it but not as bad and we all isolated in separate rooms when we could. My DD however has been deeply worried in case she infects when she returns to school. I’ve phoned for a test but they won’t test as her symptoms have gone 8 days. She still has no sense of smell or taste but we are all out of isolation. We never thought we would get it as we were extra careful but this virus is clever. I got a text this morning asking me to donate blood plasma for studying but the centres aren’t local to me or I would. The sooner the vaccine is available the better. On a good note, I have done a few comps again when I haven’t dozed off doing them!Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!3

Evening all. Wingo sounds an absolutely horrible time you have had and are not completely better. It’s strange how your husband and children only had a few symptoms. Similar thing happened to a friend’s family. The first one to get it a daughter in her twenties was like you really very ill, the others who caught it had milder symptoms and a couple didn’t get it at all. It’s hard when you have been so careful. Pleased to hear your test results came back quickly. I’m hoping you will be able to stay at home till you are really fully recovered. Good luck with the comps. To be honest there’s not been much luck lately but who knows. Good luck too Sheils.Duncan’s Dad well done on the money from surveys and selling the golf club. They probably had a bargain but it gives you a nice sum too.
Its been a strange day here. It was fine this morning and then pouring rain again in the afternoon.

Good Afternoon
Very wet here now so Dad is reluctant to take me out again until our last walk of the day and by then the fireworks will be on the go and I will not want to go out at all.
Sounds like you have had a rough time wingobins but glad that you are getting over it.
We don't know anyone that has confirmed to have had the virus but the numbers are rising in Fife so it wont be long until this little corner gets hit, good job that we never get visitors or speak to anyone anyway so it will just be at the shop or chemist that Dad will be at risk.
Still not finding many comps to enter but getting one or two a day to keep the hopes up.

Morning, last day of the month and it's finishing as it started wet and windy. I have today off then back tomorrow if I am not canceled. DS went for an induction with his new job yesterday and says he should be ok. They gave him his 3 days for next week and it means he can still do his hours at the cinema. If they are both not shut down next week. The news isn't good this morning but we shall have to wait and see.
Hope the weather hasn't been too bad for you Duncan and you can still get your walks in.
Have a good day

Morning. Wet and windy here too Indie. Yes, end of month already. Pleased your DS had a good experience with the new job and it will fit in with the cinema. As you say we will have to wait and see about shut down. Here we have more virus cases but not the very high numbers of some areas.
Let’s hope there’s some better weather next week. Last week was the first time there was nothing in the garden waste bin on bin day. So I’m hoping to do some more pruning next week.Duncan hope you can go out without being drenched. Hope your Dad has good footwear and his feet are a bit better.Hope everyone has a reasonable weekend. Take care.4 -
Hi everyone,Hope you are all ok. Even more depressing news than usual. Was due to go to a caravan in Northumberland for 4 nights from Monday but obviously wont be able to now. Hoping I can change to one in Scottish Borders few miles up the road but who knows.Booked England as everytime I have booked Scotland there has been extra restrictions.Cases here have been more than in first wave and extra deaths in the care homes which we avoided last time.Worried that it will get worse and we will end up in Tier 3.Weather has been really wet and windy so not a lot to be cheerful about.Hope someone has some good news!sheils xMar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Good Morning
A dry but windy start to the day here.
Sorry about your trip away sheils, hope you manage to get something else.
Dad had a chat with a couple of nurses yesterday while I played with their puppy, I just hope he never caught anything  we have been well away from any virus hotspots around here but they do seem to be getting closer, people have still not learned their lesson about keeping safe and not travelling
We are still doing or regular walks although Dad is running out of new places to take me so we are doing a lot of old walks backwards.
And the good news is that we won another pen and it arrived yesterday

Morning. A bit dull here but not raining.
Sheils hope there is something available in the borders for you.Duncan I’m sure your regular walks are lovely even doing them backwards. We need to be out walking more but the rain has put us off recently. Feel sure your Dad was safe with the nurses. Well done on the pen win, always useful. Let’s hope there are some more wins in the Inn soon.
Indie thinking of you at work today.Stay safe all.1 -
Managed to get a walk this morning before the rain came back. The rain was pretty bad through the night and the wind has been horrendous!Have managed to keep half our break. They didnt seem prepared to change the break to a Scottish one. Wondering if they expect a lockdown to occur here too. We have to get away by Wednesday night.DD been doing double shifts as the mental health wards fill up. No-one seems to realise how bad this uncertainty is on everyones mental health. More worrying than Covid I think.Sure your dad wouldnt be close enough to the nurses to catch anything Duncan. They are all doing a great job and risking their health for us.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Good Morning
Pouring rain here first thing but starting to dry up a bit.
We saw a deer on our first walk, there is a band of trees between 2 housing schemes that has footpaths going through it and the deer was on the footpath as we came round a corner, it just glided away into the cover of the trees, no fuss, no noise and it was gone, really made Dad's morning.
