Morning, the sun has got his hat on, and he has come to play here today.lol Got the day off and put 1 load of washing out and have another load in machine.
Yes sheils it is a worrying time and families are not reacting well to having their visits cut to 1 a week. I was putting info on our tablet just outside a resident's room and she was talking to her daughter on the ipad and her daughter was saying "don't worry mum,we will get in even if we come up the back stairs". I was gobsmacked, and thought to myself. You won't because we are key coded and there is enough staff on to see you.
I saw on the news last night  there are care homes that have the virus so they may even shut ours off to all visitors. We had to call a DR out yesterday and there was 2 of them turned up put on long aprons gloves and masks before they entered the home. The lady only had a chest infection but it brought home to some staff that it's real. We have 1 case locally but am sure there will be more. It is a worrying time for everyone.

Morning, just been to Tesco's, as it's now closing at 10pm and opening at 6 instead of 24 hours. I went at 5.50am and there was about 100 people in front of me waiting for doors to open. It was madness in there. They have limited loo rolls 2 packets per person as they found groups going in and buying them up.I saw 3 members of the same families with 3 trollies throwing everything they could get in them, so it won't stop them. When i went to work yesterday they had locked down the home,no visitors unless their relatives are end of life.
We have 2 suspected cases of the virus in the home, one on the floor i was on and 1 on the ground floor. The one on my floor is probably a bad chest infection and she is in heart failure as well but the one on the ground floor sounds like she has it. They don't test people unless they go in hospital. too late then as if they have got it the staff will probably get it.We have been told to treat them as having it.My DS has no work as they have closed the cinema and he is waiting for an update on what is happening. He has a shift today all staff   have  been told come in this week for your shifts and we can deep clean the screens so when they open again they should be ok. Luckily he is a saver so has a bit of money put by.
My neices husband thinks his eldest son(15) has it although it's mild. He has had a virus for over a month, rageing sore throat and cough, so they are all self  isolating.on Drs orders. I am off today, but will be seeing if nephew needs anything,i will get it if i can and leave it on his doorstep.
    Keep safe everyone.
  • Hi everyone
Sheils - hope the family sort the temporary work problems.  Hope you are keeping well.
Indie - your visitors at work sound ridiculous,  no consideration for others.  Hope you keep protected from any viruses there..
Leanfun - hope you are keeping well and warm and best to keep indoors when you can.
    I have had my pins out but my foot is ever so swollen .  cant get a shoe on!  see how it goes for a week or so;
schools now closing Friday along with loads of places .  Hope the supermarkets get organised and let the older and vulnerable in first , then the rest of us can pick up what we need.  agree there are some greedy ones with trolley full - no need.
    speak soon x

    Hi everyone,
Have had a busy few days. DS2 and family were down to visit as DS2 had extra day off. He came with chain saw and cut down the hedge to a reasonable height and cut down a tree and bush too so it should make life easier for DH in autumn. No more standing on step ladders! DD was down last night and we both got highlights done today. Felt a bit uncomfortable in the hairdressers though, worrying about catching the virus. Don't know when we will see DD again as she will be working all hours. They were made to sign forms for working extra hours and working anywhere. Lots of staff self isolating out of fear sometimes I think but making it harder on the rest. Because DD only 21 and no dependents think she is going to have a really bad time being sent to other wards and hospitals. Dont know what will happen to the mentally ill where she normally works. Really scary. Hope you are ok indie.
Sylvia was hoping to get flown home today but haven't heard from her which is strange. Hope they got on the plane.
Hope your foot gets better soon luckofdraw.
Staying in will be hard leanfun but not so hard with a garden. Most of our neighbours are just over 70 and like us always on breaks so some seriously bored already! The neighbour across the road took all our hedge cuttings etc to dump in his trailer for something to do. Was really good of him and saved a lot of work for us.

EDIT - Just to let you know Sylvia got home last night

Morning, i have been working the last 2 days.Very hectic there and like your DD's sheils. we have 18 off at the moment self isolating and i heard the deputy manager went off yesterday afternoon feeling unwell. I am sure a few are ok, but just wanted the week off as all the news is stressing them out.I am off today but then on for the next 2 days but tomorrow i am on the residential floor which is easy to do so should have an easier day. I hope your DD2 son is ok leanfun, your DD2 could have had it as some people have very little signs and as you say with no testing we don't know if we have had it or not. Some at work think we had it last year when most people had a cough that they couldn't get rid of like me and quite a few others. Well there are lots of theories going round.
    Stay safe everyone.

Hi Hayley.   So sorry to hear you Dad has died recently.  No words are adequate for your loss.  Just take care of yourself and your family.

Yes everything on here has changed.  This post tells you how to put comps in date order.
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6100079/new-forum-layout-problems-bugs-how-do-i/p1

I’m on iPad so the page numbers do not appear at the top of the page when in portrait. You have to go to Landscape or turn iPad around and then you see the icon at the end of the page numbersat the top of the page.  First row you put the date you want and make sure catagory is Competition Time.

When you enter a comp on main board and you are logged in you can tick entered or skipped in the post.    Whatever you tick in the post will appear on main board.  However when you go into date order entered or skipped can only be seen in the post.
Yes, it’s all mega change!    I can only tell you that on old forum I entered by end date but have changed to just trying to go through main board.    Good luck.

Morning, we are self isolating here as DS's GF has a temp and cough. So looks like we will be stuck indoors for 2 weeks. So glad we have a garden so i can potter around. I couldn't post a message earlier thought MSE was playing up but just checked and saw i was logged out...DOH! I was at work yesterday on the ground floor and sons and daughters were bringing their flowers and chocolates up for the mums and talking to them through the windows. The other girl i worked with did their hair and i did their nails so they had a little pampering seeing as they couldn't have visitors or go out. Hope everyone had a good Mothers day.

Sorry to hear your news Indie.  Do hope your DS’s GF has it mildly and you and your DS don’t get it.    We are indoors but thankfully have a garden to go out in.  It’s very warm out there today and the wind has calmed down.  I have just put some washing out.   Indie sounds as though you made a great day for the residents in the home. Well done to the two of you.   I had messages from the two daughters.  They are finding it hard already looking after children at home.  DD1 only has the one but is trying to work from home.
    Take care everyone.

    Hi all,

Hope you will all be ok indie. It is all so scary.
Been doing quite a lot of gardening here! Lots of neighbours self isolating apart from walking their dogs etc. Most of the women are fine but the men have underlying health problems so everyone being careful.
We have DS3 home just now which is a bit worrying as we were trying not to go near people except when shopping.
The weather has been lovely here. We were a bit naughty yesterday and went into the next county where we knew there was a walk to a huge secluded beach (not a pretty one, but beggars can't be choosers!) We only saw two families there and then had a picnic in the car at another beach on the way back. One family and their dog there. DS3 cooked a lovely dinner of steaks with mushroom sauce and dauphinoise pots etc and he bought a bottle of Prosecco. Had a lovely day considering what is happening.
DD was attacked on her nightshift last night and got a real fright as the staff from other wards took a while to get to them when the alarm went off.. The nurse she was with had been got by the neck and she was badly kicked.  She reckons they should get more staff now so fingers crossed.
One of their patients is in isolation too and still waiting on virus result and in meantime they only have masks to wear.
I feel like we are in horror film by Stephen King.
    Take care everyone. xxx
