Dad's jam is famous on MSE, it was the hit of the Manchester Meet about 8/9 years ago, Tigs will know the date better than me as she produced the other big hit that year (Butterbean) and he still sends a jar to Laks every year.
We just got home as the first of the showers arrived so looks like no berry picking today1 -
I suppose it was mostly an Arms meet so if you were not a regular in there at the time it would have passed you by.
A total of 18 jars of jam were handed out, some rhubarb and mostly blackcurrant, a few were lost by the end of the evening either dropped or left in the pub, Dad being the simple man that he is and having stopped drinking years before did not want to spoil his impression of everyone, left before it got too wild and drove back to Fife.
Very light drizzle here but the clouds look very dark.1 -

Good Morning
Cooler here again but no rain expected today.
A great 'chase the cat' ensued last evening, Heidi had caught a bird and first her mum was out chasing her to drop it, then her dad joined the chase but still she kept her distance and hid among the bushes in our garden, then Dad joined the chase armed with his garden hose set on 'Jet', that flushed her out but by this time she had dropped the bird, I enjoyed the whole spectacle from the comfort of the window sill
I don't know what Dad has lined up for today.

Morning. A lot cooler here too but not as much as your way FireFly. We didn’t have much rain yesterday. Well done with the jam making Duncan’s Dad that was a long drive to the Arm’s meet up but bet you all had a good time. Here the excitement of the week was I made a cake. Last weeks fruit and veg Odd box had a lot of lemons so I had a go at a lemon cake from a Mary Berry recipe. Cake didn’t rise much. I’m not sure but I think the language on the bag of flour was Polish and the flour might have been plain flour. Anyway cake was delicious warm, even though I say it myself, and great cold yesterday. I always baked when the children were young but then work took over. In recent years a friend took up baking. She made cakes to die for but they themselves put on a lot of weight. I kept thinking I won’t do that as we need to loose weight. Ho Ho and did I meantion DH has a sweet tooth.
DH has been trying to sort out his tablets and the chemist he was going to has closed. So we are going to see if the prescription has arrived at a chemist a bit further away from us. It is on a bus route, you can park a car outside and I think it’s Walking distance. We just have to see if it rains. There is a nearer chemist but it’s at the top of a steep hill and there is always trouble there with prescriptions.K9 hope you are feeling better. Indie enjoy your days off. Sheils there are starting to be a few holiday hotel comps on the board. Saw one for a hotel in York.Duncan hope you get out today. We will even if it’s in the car.Take care.2 -

And Duncan's dad's jam was/is fantasticalmost on a par with his warmth and generosity.

He learned mostly by trial and error but does remember the stuff that his mum used to bake and still makes some of that stuff.
He does not have the decorating skill that his mum had so does not even try.1
