Sorry, I'm confused. Is this the right thread? About flight bags?:)theGrinch said:Its good we can ask and answer questions; and yes we are all strangers. Thats how MSE started and exists.
Often its the most objective way to give advice and ultimately, take a view.
It would not be nice if it was untolerated as some might want it.

Just learn to travel light! Do you really need more than an underseat bag for a weekend away? Or even 5 days or so? Bearing in mind you can stuff jackets pockets with stuff if necessary. I've got a small rucksack that is well within all airlines' underseat bag dimensions which also means it won't get taken off me and put in the hold.

You don't mention whether your bag was the correct size or not which is kind of crucial here.gingerdad said:Fly 3-4 times a year always hand luggage only once in the last 10 years has my bag been checked that was RyanAir from LPL-LIG - never been checked on any other RyanAir or other Airline - have flown - Virgin, Air France, Thomas Cook, Delta, WestJet, Ryanair - lots and lots of different UK and international airports, FlyBe mainly to IOM, EasyJet, KLM
this is my bag - and it's correct for some and not others - but it is soft so unless rammed full. (interestingly not Virgin, Ryanair or KLM)

Soft, backpack style which anecdotally is much less likely to be noticed than a traditional rollaboard type.gingerdad said:

It may well be possible to fit a slightly over size soft bag into the measuring box, but that doesn't alter the fact that one which can be squeezed into BA won't fit Flybe because the permitted size is so much smaller.
