I can understand all of this but am somewhat bemused about the ban in AI hotels.
If you're on hotel grounds - and I doubt anyone will wander out of their hotel with half a lager in a glass - then are you really causing anti-social behaviour problems?
I'd guess the number of holidaymakers who get tanked up during the day in their AI hotel then go out in the streets and create havoc is pretty small.
Maybe you're right.I've never been to the Balearics and don't do AI.It was just a thought.Pretty much like this...Lushlis2 said:It’s all the happy hours and ridiculous drinks offers they do at bars that is the issue and I agree with that as that’s where all the trouble stems from but to limit all inclusive drinks is madness as if you’re someone that likes a drinks you’ll just buy them anyone so it’s not resolving the issue. Why can’t they just refuse to serve people at all inclusive when they think they may have had too much to drink

I reckon a large part of the problem is stag and hen parties who base themselves in AI hotels, get fuelled up early evening before "hitting the town" to party party. They are not typical of regular type AI clients of course.

I never choose to so AI as I’d rather eat out but I just wanted to stop at this particular hotel for other reasons. I’m hoping this is resolved ASAP. If it comes into effect I shall be seeking advice and making a complaint as I’ve paid for full AI0

"Well most of that makes the Balearics seem a far nicer holiday consideration than the booze-fest resorts they are now..."Don't judge the Balearics by a few locations where the party party mentality is prevelant. We have had many good holidays there, over several decades, in fine tourist grade hotels located outwith the "lager lout" territories - resorts which we avoid like the plague !!!1

I wish you luck. If local laws change after you have booked I don't see that you have any comeback against either the hotel or the tour operator. They will still be providing AI within the limitations set by local laws.

If you are not going AI for the unlimited drinks then is this a big issue? Surely 6 in a day is enough for anybody not looking to have a boozy blur of a holiday?1 -
6 drinks is plenty for me but some of the group I’m going with are more of a drinker than me but not to the extent where they become larger louts. It’s not the case of the drinks for me it’s just the fact spending all that money on all inclusive drinks. But I guess I will just see what happens0

What I can't figure out with these new rules is how will they stop people from getting drunk in their room..ie buy booze in the supermarkets. They stopped bar crawls in Magaluf but the reps took the group down the beach and taught them to split up to avoid it looking like one.
I don't get why they're punishing the all inclusive guests. I've been on many holidays all in and rarely see anyone hammered (bar one who arrived off the plane in a state).
Personally, I'd hold your ground and ensure the travel company put it in writing what the new plans are, if they won't then ask them to move you to a hotel of the same standard, outside of the zone. Escalate it to a complaint if they refuse to clarify the drink situation. If you've booked a holiday that clearly stated all in was unlimited drinks between hours of x and y and you get different, it's a breach of contract, I reckon

Anyone who needs more than 6 drinks a day, holiday or otherwise, probably should be using their time to take a long hard look at themselves instead of whining about this.0
