All inclusive drinks limit in Magaluf
Comments

It may be designed roughly around lunchtime and evening meal - however it will be a maximum of 6 drinks per day, whatever way it's implemented methinks. From what I could see this proposal was placed before the Baleric legislature early last year although some reports reckoned it would not go through by April, the deadline for enactment.Looking at aspects of the overall bans, it's likely that the other prohibitions may be more effective perhaps ?0

Yes I’ve read somewhere that 3 drinks at lunch and then 3 drinks at dinner. I personally don’t think limiting all inclusive drinks will help the issue as like someone said earlier you can just get an unrestricted all inclusive hotel outside the effected area. I think the issues are with all the drinks offers they do in the resort bars and all the free shots they hand out0

Thing is, going by the second link maps in respect of AI hotels, the affected territories appear to include the whole of the area in question.

I think it seems to be a bit all up in the air at the minute. So I’ve read there are a few hotels that aren’t affected but I guess no one will know until a announcement is made0

Just thought I'd post this extract from Noodledoodleman's link:New Balearic law includes:
· Six alcoholic drinks (unspecified) per day on all inclusive packages.
· Limits on shops selling alcoholic drinks in the resorts.
· The end of Happy Hour and other activities which encourage alleged excessive drinking.
· Two strikes and you are closed, for bars breaking the law on the sale of alcohol, maximum fine of 600,000 euros and closure for three years.
· Crackdown on balconying.
· Moves to ban pub crawls and PRs encouraging excessive drinking.
· Restriction on party boats.
· Crackdown on under age drinking.
· Hotel rooms can no longer be hired out on an hourly basis.
I can understand all of this but am somewhat bemused about the ban in AI hotels. If you're on hotel grounds - and I doubt anyone will wander out of their hotel with half a lager in a glass - then are you really causing anti-social behaviour problems?
I'd guess the number of holidaymakers who get tanked up during the day in their AI hotel then go out in the streets and create havoc is pretty small.

Well most of that makes the Balearics seem a far nicer holiday consideration than the booze-fest resorts they are now, although the AI restriction seems to be more than a money-spinner than anything else, 6 drinks included, but I bet you can pay for more. I wonder how strongly it would be enforced or will they just use it as a way to control heavy drinking? Either way it will be a death-blow for AI hotels, you may as well book half board.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

It’s all the happy hours and ridiculous drinks offers they do at bars that is the issue and I agree with that as that’s where all the trouble stems from but to limit all inclusive drinks is madness as if you’re someone that likes a drinks you’ll just buy them anyone so it’s not resolving the issue. Why can’t they just refuse to serve people at all inclusive when they think they may have had too much to drink0
