I think threads will get un necessarily long with people posting thanks along with quotes
It seems a bit childish when all the other forums have them (or the ones I've looked at) and DT doesn't
Oh  and bring back the smileys , they are emoticons , to express emotions in pictures .

I agree, the lack of a thanks button makes me feel I'm ignoring people :'( I read on a thread that it was because it was suggested by someone to do away with it on the feedback. Well, there are lots of "someones" asking for it back!  :/
Totally agree, it is awful not being able to just click the thanks button.  Seems like total overkill having to write a post saying "thanks."

Also I would really like the old emojis back as well please.

Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

  • There should be a dislike button too it would help to balance things out

.........Some questions however need arguments. Which need more than one or two lines. Hopefully a proportion of those arguments there have been from time to time have been an education to those many who, judging by the evidence on DT, had never realised there were such things.
This thread questions the need for a "thank you" button......your post is missing an answer.

"the evidence on DT" also shows that syntax is out of fashion..._
My post was a direct answer to yours.

You remind me that to soundbites, slogans and snarls I should add ad hominems. Including failed attempts at.

Sorry my posts so long - not time write shorter ones.

Any chance we could have that in comprehensible English, along with an answer to the OP's original question about retaining or losing the thank you button. Waffle is just waffle, an answer is just an answer..._

I have already exceeded justifiable length.  :p

Btw there is also a part-answer in my sig.

Sorry my posts so long - not time write shorter ones.
  • If they want to avoid the controversy in Discussion Time over the use of "Thanks", remove identification. It is the latter aspect that causes issues, with people getting targeted for thanking a particular post.
I wish I could thank this one  :)

On the contrary what has always been wrong with DT is the high proportion of soundbites,  slogans and snarls.

I thought we'd had some good arguments here in the past, thanks button or not, and largely ignored the trolls and "one line repeated ad nauseam " posters.
And it's a forum. It's full of soundbites, slogans and snarls! Not every post has to be a 50 page thesis on the subject!  ;)

They are treating us like kids. so what if it does cause controversy? Can't beat a good controversy :#  I've said it before, if you (general) cannot take it, then stay off boards like DT.

    THANKS!

    THANKS!
