Another successful scoffing of the meal plan! first time in practically forever where we have stuck to the plan and not gone off piste by buying takeaway!!
We had pork and bramley sausages, mash white cabbage and gravy.  Even put in the last of the bag of onion rings to cook which made Mr M_F's day
I think this week has been really good for the wallet reporting on here and the grocery challenge.  We have made purchases from other "pots" and our personal spends but all have been budgeted for and thought through.  I even avoided a personal spend on wine as dearest Mr M_F "forgot" to pick it up when he walked past the shop! not sure if he had an alternative motive of making me go on the wagon but its probably best for my wallet and health.
Tomorrow shall involve a nice glass of something for both of us as is Friday tradition along with the last of the meal plan chilli.  No deviation from plan will happen tomorrow as chilli chips and cheese is one of my most favorite meals ever.  Without wanting to wish my life away.....roll on Friday evening and weekend!!!! B)
We went off piste yesterday.. will post it all on my diary later.  But well done you!! enjoy your tipple tonight :)

  • Have to admit I don't know if MrL do the deals any more.  They didn't used to take credit cards, and we had no cash other than the £20 per week my then apprenticed stepson contributed which I used to invest in MrL.  I had a long running diary on mortgagefreeinthree forums about living off that £20 but lost all the resources when the site went.
On the Go To Categories there are Old Threads and yours maybe on there. Hope that makes sense.

  • Hello all diary readers, writers and lurkers  B)
Well Friday has come round once again and the moving_forward household is very appreciative to be warm dry and in our own home - hugs to those that need them at this horrid time of flooding, nasty illnesses not to mention lifes usual ups and downs!
@Naomim , going off piste occasionally isn't a problem, with us it was more the norm hence celebrating our small achievement!
Hello Sayschezz, I shall have to have a looksie to see if you have a diary.  My list of "faves" is growing by the day.  When I have some quiet time I will have to try and read @redofromstart 's diary from the set off but its rather long and even my quick reading skills may be put to the test!
Plans for the weekend evolve around dodging the rain and trying to take it easy a bit.  The last couple have being rather full on with gardening and general chores so I need to start heeding the advice of one of our Directors.  He told me a few years ago that through his married life he and his wife took the principle of "work one, play one" with their precious weekends.  We tend to go all out when times our own and sometimes burn out.  This weekend does have some visiting of several shops to get the best price on things but apart from that need to take time out a bit.  Mr M_F is taking up his watercolour painting again now the conservatory has had a big clear out and I may even take the opportunity to look at my knitting.  I intend to sow a couple of packs of seed but that very much counts as play in my book  B)

  • @Sayschezza it does make sense but my diary was on mortgagefreeinthree.com rather than MSE and it went when Elaine refreshed the site a few years ago.  Since then I have kept a personal record of recipes too! Thank you though.
  • @moving_forward in a nutshell there was a flock of seagulls, a general strike and not much else happened.  Cooking, gardening, cats and books. Me in a nutshell
  • I'm liking the work one, play one concept.  Sunday's are a write off anyway (clean, iron, prep) but happy plans for alternate Saturdays would help.

It's good to have a hobby or something you can enjoy & take time out for. Many moons ago before children and credit card debt, I was very interested in genealogy but alas it's very expensive.  I love to read and watch films but also have little time at the moment.

  • This weeks meal plan as mentioned in Grocery Challenge:
Tonight: Chickpea curry, rice and half naan bread each (added mushrooms for extra veg)
Sunday: Roast pork, Roasties, Stuffing, Yorkie puds and veg
Mon: Salmon, new potatoes and veg
Tues: Left over shepherd's pie from last week
Weds: Freezer fish chips and peas
Thurs: Freezer veggie fingers, mash and baked beans
Fri: Chinese chicken curry and rice.
We had a Mr T delivery last night and went to the local town to but the rest of the list from various shops.  The pet spend today includes a bed from Mr Al dee.  M_F dog got so excited that she piddle on it already :rage: New bed in washing machine as I type.
We also splashed out on a new pair of kitchen scissors and I treated myself to a lovely kitchen apron from my clothes spend budget.  I used to have a lot of aprons for when I'm baking but they all seem to have disappeared (someone may have used them for gardening  ).  I may road test it tomorrow by baking a nice cake.  I'm thinking a fruit cake as I have the things in for that but will have to see how much time we have.  I do enjoy baking, its very calming and Mr M_F quite enjoys eating baked goods so you could say we were meant to be
This morning I sowed my living rocks seeds at last and gave the bonsai trees roots a good cut and repotted it in its pot with fresh compost.  Its not looking too good at the minute so I'm hoping some tender loving care will restore it.  The pot it came with is lovely so if all else fails I will have a go at doing my own
In other gardening news I have sorted out which of my lovely free seed packets I intend to sow first and may get on with them tomorrow time permitting.  We are visiting family tomorrow so may not have a lot of free time.
Time to have a nose through other diaries x
