  • Hi moving_forward👋  I thought as you had commented on my diary I would have a mosey over to yours and have subscribed!😀

I think you are rather like me when I was debt busting. I used the snowball calculator for my credit card balances and used to love updating it every month, along with YNAB. I used to stare at it for ages and get quite obsessed!  I still take great pleasure each month in updating my YNAB categories and I even find space for the odd extra category even after several years of using it!

Yes seasidegal58 I use a snownall calculator that I coppied into a spreadsheet and fiddled with creating our own that updates as soon as I change anything. Im obsessed with excel at work and home and YNAB is the replacement for microsoft money Ive been looking for for years.
Ive followed your diary a while now and see just how many extra categories get added along the way😝 You did so well paying off your debt stealth like I intend to do the same x

I'm struggling with the snowball calculator at the moment as my MrT credit card payments are 1% + the interest charged and I can't work out how to get that into a snowball :(

Your meal plan looks lovely. I like reading other people's for inspiration!

    isnt it something like 1%+(interestrate/12)
    i.e 0.01*(16.7/12)
dont know if that would work in a snowball calculator.  If you can copy it into excel you could definitely use the calculation.

  • oh missed the bit about my meal plan, thanks,. I do the same but ours can be costly.  Mr M_F doesnt like pork much so I sneak it in occasionally and do the same with lamb for him as a compromise  The shepards pie is more cottage as its got beef mince not lamb but I used half a 500g pack along with 125g dry brown lentils and added my usual tin of baked beans.  Top is always cheesy mash.  We had a spicentice vegan shepherds pie mix the other week which we added worcester sauce and cheese to so not vegan but bloomin lovely and we will add to the next order.
The other half pack of mince went into the chilli which also had the 125g dry brown lentils along with a tin kidney beans and about 125g of mixed dried beans (from Mr W).  The chilli obviously goes further as its got more protein in in. I also make it all veggie sometimes but added the mince this time for a change.
The veg and cashew curry was also a Spicentice vegan sri lankan spice mix that I tweaked and the planned chickpea curry is theres as well.
Disclaimer I do not work for Spicentice but after finding them at the good food show a couple of years back we love them.

  • So readers (getting a few now so must welcome them all : B)
Todays Mse has consisted more of resisting buying than planning (remember the 6 P's p*ss poor planning prevents proper performance - obviously should follow my own advice more eh!?)  ooh I may have that as a quote on me signature.
I digress **cough cough**, so, resisted going to shop at lunch to buy junk snacks - stayed in and read @Naomim 's diary instead.
resisted urge to stop at shop to get bottle of vino to go with fish and chips.  Mr M_F had kindly stopped off at Mr A on way home and carried two large bottles of cider (personal spends one each) home in his backpack. I may indulge in a small glass **Hic**
Have noticed how lighter it is getting which is lovely.  Can't wait to get on and sow some more seeds. I have plenty of packets either left from previous years or free on magazines.  I brought some silversand last weekend as my living stone seed instructions say to use that?
That's about it i'm afraid folks, not much going on in the world of moi at the min,

  • Did not succumb  to the cider o:) but did snaffle slightly more than a couple of choc digestives before dinner  :* at least it didn't cost anything eh!
I am again getting the naughty me saying "go shop go shop get nicety's" but no I will not give in I will save my personal spends (and my calories) for other things.
Dinner last night was the aforementioned freezer fish and chips.  Tried Mr T chunky breaded cod instead of Mr M & S and have to say it was alright.  We do like fish and chip night in our house, M_F dog and puss cat had their fish fingers (de-breaded for puss cat) but still tried to use their powers of persuasion to get more from us.  We did not give in as both are looking pretty plump if I'm honest and could do with losing a few kg (yes pot calling kettle black - I know).
An email arrived tempting me to spend all our dosh and more on some plants for the garden which I usually delete, but before I did I noticed their stock photo had two lovely terracotta type pots filled with one type of flowering plant in each.  Very effective thought me so picture duly cut and pasted into my "garden inspiration" gallery album and thoughts of which of the free seeds I have to plant will work best.  I think I may even have some very similar to the two types in the pic itself so thanks expensive online garden centre for the muse!!! **insert smug face**
Sky's seem to be looking a bit brighter over here, crossing everything for those unfortunate peeps who have been flooded that the worse will soon be over.  Always feel a bit ashamed to be going on about trivial matters when so much bad and nasty things are happening out there in the not so wider world.

  • I have unsubscribed from the garden emails, I just get suckered in otherwise and I don't have time to plant things.  I do like single colour/variety planting though.  Last year I did purple violas in the four stainless steel pots on the fence, and really liked the consistency.  They are back to just ivy at the moment which is probably for the best given the amount of water that has passed though them in recent weeks.

I like reading other peoples meal plans too.  My OH doesn't like pork much, or anything on the bone.  When we ran out of cash, at the peak of famine/feast cycle,  the only things on offer in L used to be pork chops or chicken quarters so he ate it and was thankful that we had meat at all, but it makes him more resistant now.  I used to do grated cheese mixed with seedy mustard on top of pork chops which I liked.

Oooh cheesy mustard chops - that would go down a treat with Mr M_F thanks.
