  • So diary readers the exciting news for today?? The moving_forward household have made it through the day without spending a penny! Now to some that isn't much to shout about (I mean all you "we have 27 nsd's a month types **GRIN**) but to us it's an achievement in itself.  It was nearly blown with the following:
    1.  Lunchtime munchies - yes I ate me lunch at 11am but thats cos I was starving - Resisted the urge to go shop and stayed in stalking on here instead
    2. Bottle of wine on way home - we don't usually drink during the week but some days a nice glass of wine is just the ticket - decided to avoid it in order to have a nsd -go me go me!!!
    3.  This one nearly scuppered me! tonights dinner is fish chips peas and tarty sauce (tartare to you posh types).  Got home, started discussing dinner and Mr M_F asks "erm do we have any chips?" now a) why cant he ask this when we are doing the shopping list/meal plan and b) why cant he look in the bloomin freezer himself?
anyway I digress, a rumble through the freezer produced a whole un open bag of set chips so nsd ruin and Mr M_F clout round the ear narrowly avoided.  Mr M_F is now cooking said fish and chip dinner as we speak -yummmmmmm
We used to go the local chippy for our fish and chip fix but have discovered we much prefer Mr M and Mr S instead.  We dont buy a lot from them but the things we do stop us spending on takeaways which used to happen more than we would care to admit.

Sorry for filling your head wirh ideas of freebie seeds. This site is full of temptation isnt it. @[Deleted User] only mentioned a personal coffee dripper thing and there i was on online jungle site googling them. I resisted temptation (just) and saved the pennies for other things...will probally be something pet related grr
Psst...charity shops are your friends for the coffee thing. I got mine as a freebie from buying coffee, but I see them all the time in my local shops, priced very reasonably as no-one knows what they are (unless you know!) ;)

Oooh we have some stuff to drop off at charity shop so I could have a subtle look for one without Mr M_F realising I am after yet another coffee gadget!

Just a quick update for today.
I have decided to implement "stealth savings" into our current account.  I think it may be referred to as Tilly Tidies in other places on the forum but i like the stealth savings name.  For every amount we spend from the current account I shall round up to the nearest pound when recording it in Ynab.  The few pence I shall put away into savings.  It may not be a great start on our savings but a start is a start and it may make me think more before I "borrow" from the current account for a McFlurry at lunchtime as it has now got to cost me £2 instead of £1.39 from my personal money or I won't be playing fair. It also makes all my numbers on Ynab look nice and rounded

  • IT'S FRIDAY!!!!! yes i'm shouting, Friday's are something to shout about (unless you don't work standard hours then I feel sorry for you :/)
Welcome to the weekend folks.  Debt busting today has been rather blar i.e. no debt busting being done apart from not giving in to the commercialism that dictakes you must spend ££££££ to prove your love for your significant other.  Mr M_F and I are settling into a regular Friday which includes:
    1. Curry for Mr M_F this cannot be altered unless a takeaway is on offer.
    2. Usually Chilli chips and cheese for me but tonight I'm joining Mr M_F in the homemade curry I made last weekend and froze  :)
    3. Alcohol, I have a nice glass of dry white, Mr M_F a pint of Taurus (Mr Al Dee cider)
    4. Extras, tonight I am munching on toblerone as it was on offer in little T's last night - I can confirm it was also munched on last night  :pensive:
    5. Something nice for Pusscat and Dog, usually Prawns on a Friday but I have leftover Tuna for them tonight.
Who needs St Valentines and £££££ for a nice evening?

  • Hullo diary readers.
Its been a wet and windy weekend. But we are thankful not to be going through the horror stories with flooding we are seeing on the news.
The sweetpeas are sown as are the cyclamen seeds but they can take 18 months to germinate!
We spent some time in the rain topping up the bark chippings and moving some plants around but apart from that and the grocery shopping not alot going on this weekend. Im getting tetchy at not being able to do much in the garden but appreciate thats the least of some peoples problems so am trying not to moan too much.
Cant say the spends have being super fruggle the past few days so "must try harder" in the words of my old teachers

  • Why does the intial enthusiasm of debt busting wear off so quickly when mid month nothing much going on is happening? Its almost like a little voice is saying but if you spend some money you will have something to update ynab with 😈
