I am now seeing signatures on mobile.
  • The post count is incorrect.
New user creates a new thread with one post. Post count shows 2 posts.
It's adding the 1 thread and 1 post together and classing them both as posts.

    HELP
I used to click on a link on the old style near the top left, it brought me to the threads I had contributed to.
How do I do this in the new site?  I’m using an iPhone in case the layout is different.
Otherwise I may as well give up and leave, I just can’t get on with it :-(

It is no longer done automatically. You have to use the Bookmark feature to physically mark each thread you want to keep tabs on. The bookmark is the white flag next to the thread title in the list of threads. When you click on it, it goes greenyblue.

Then, by clicking on the Bookmarks icon next to your Profile button at the top right of the page, you  get a drop-down list of your bookmarked threads. If there is a new post on one, it will have a greenyblue dot next to it.

Ps. If you are using an iPhone, you might not be able to see the drop-down list. Try turning the phone to landscape. However, even in landscape, I cannot see the drop-down list on my iPhone 7. I have to use my iPad.

Are we ever going to get things like rejecting competitions from the list of posts and the hover preview function? This is basic functionality that should have been in place ahead of launch, and it seems too much effort for MSE to even bother to post regular updates on restoring the forum to previous levels.

Could someone please explain the difference between thanks and points, and how the latter total is calculated?  Will they be used for something? Thanks Humdinger

    If only!

There is a Points thread somewhere, where someone did find out, but I’ve forgotten the answer. I’ll see if I can find the thread.

    Edit...
Right....someone on another thread found this on the Vanilla website:

“An engaged community is one where people are creating content and interacting with each other in a meaningful way. In Vanilla, reputation points are earned for participation and for creating content that is liked by others. When a member performs certain actions or receives praise, she is awarded reputation points and in some cases badges. For example, uploading a profile photo gives the member the Photogenic badge and ten points. Getting a positive reaction on a comment gives 1 point. Getting a negative reaction on a comment, such as 'off topic' takes a point away. If a moderator 'promotes' a comment, the member will receive 5 points. There are about a dozen actions that will trigger a badge award and close to 70 badges that can be earned.”

So it looks as if points are a combination of badges and thanks.
    Or something.

  • It would still be nice to have a new posts button, wherever we are in the forum, instead of still having to go back to forum home.
