How do I search just the thread I'm reading?3
-
1. My avatar has loaded as a jpg instead of a gif. Can't we use gifs any more?
2. I don't want an email every time MSE does something. Hoping we can turn this feature off somewhere.
3. As others have noted, spacing is an issue. Presume that will look better once posted.
4. We used to be able to preview our messages before posting. Haven't found that feature yet.
5. I've been receiving emails all day today (launch day), but whenever I clicked the link, it came to an error page. Presuming that was part of the upload. I came in the long way in the end.
6. I found the "edit message". That's good, because someone said earlier that they couldn't edit their message.
7. This looks a lot like the interface many of us rejected when the forum went into beta testing before. Then we had the option to return to the old look. It doesn't look like we can do that now, and I don't believe that the current interface is very inclusive, and that will put some off. It's not very easy to read, the colours are too white, there is too much white space on the page.
8. EDIT: The spacing is HORRIBLE, as it's spaced out in the editing screen, but all bunched together in the viewing screen. Far too cluttered. We need a WISYWIG option.
9. Can't find the emoticons for my signature ...
10. Can't go to message last read, or last message in thread.
11. Subscribed threads (competitions): Can't see our thanks or our skips, so no idea which was the last competition we saw or entered.
12. Search is completely pap. It used to be so quick to just type in a term, choose entire threads or just post titles, and voila! There they were. How do you search so simply now?
So far, it's not looking great and seems to be more of a backward step. There are more hoops to jump through and it's harder to do anything. Not very inclusive or user friendly. Hopefully, it's all teething trouble. BUT ... it's up to you guys, obviously, as it's a free service for us. I just don't think I'll be visiting as often if it doesn't improve.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets7 -

But I can't see a way to click to the latest post on a thread any more.

I am at a complete loss as to understand how this new set-up works. Please could someone explain, in words of one syllable, aa though talking to an idiot? I found myself trying to enter competitions that I then noticed were from back in 2018! This needs an easy lay-out so that new competitions are clearly visible as soon as they posted and people aren't following old threads! Regular, weekly comps should be included in this daily list too - have them separately too, if you like, but it's too much to have to keep going to different places, here and there, to find what used to be in one easy-to-understand list. This is why people dislike change ; we're told it's going to make everything better and easier, with bells and whistles on - only it rarely does. It's a change for the worse. Hence the old maxim: if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!3

Small and not very urgent problem: sorry that I haven't trawled through twelve pages of comments to see if this has been reported before, but I do have a screengrab...First time using the new forum to view a thread that was created very recently. You will notice that the date above the title is a bit odd!
Here's a link to the thread, in case it's of any help:

The same thing happens every time a website or application is redesigned - immediately people hate it and demand the old version back but within a couple of weeks everyone gets used to it and then the old design looks prehistoric. There are bound to be some teething problems as it is a big step up from in-house testing to giving live with thousands of users, all with different usage patterns, devices and browsers.
The key improvement for me is that the site is finally usable on a mobile phone.6 -

The "New Posts" button used to be readily available so you could quickly get back to the "new posts" page. Now you have to click backwards until you see it again?3 -
Can we have this again, please?9
