The UK holiday industry will be hit, it's just not sunk in yet.
If you rent out a hotel room, holiday flat, a caravan, a lodge, who is going to come? Are you going to do a deep clean between each one? If you don't, who will come?
Where will they go? Many usual places to visit/see etc will be closed, or restricted.
Many will just figure "might as well stay at home and have a big holiday next year".
Camping's a possible ... you're self contained. But who will trust those shared washing facilities, shared shower blocks and loos? And, again, what's there to do if places are closed/restricted. Might as well stay at home.... and go out locally where you've fewer fears.
Some will always go, but many providers teeter on the edge of affordability needing full bookings. Many holiday caravans that are privately owned rent them out just for 8 weeks of the year to pay their substantial (£5-7k) annual site fees, for example.
Next year might be a bargain year for those looking to buy a 2nd hand holiday caravan on a site like Haven and other big names. In the meantime, the hotel we are staying in is closing next Friday. We visited a lovely museum, and when we arrived we were the only visitors. Whilst we were there, four other people came. They are closing the museum on Friday, too.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?7 -

We don't mind if it is a holiday of just staying in the caravan and not going out and about, far more relaxing and scenic looking over the site than the road outside my house, easier for me to move around as all one level and we can get shopping delivered to the 'van too. Mum and dad have also got a caravan booked at the same times too, so we can still keep an eye on them and help them out....and might actually get dad to stay away from people and shops which is proving impossible here!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.6 -

They might be pretty cheap in these present circumstances.
My current Plan is to: be out of here by early/mid June. Paid to 28th, want to move out, but don't want to do so in a blind/expensive panic.
I figure another 4-6 weeks and the holiday market will've changed and more people will be more up for renting longer term, but don't really want the long-term commitment of an actual tenant. I should stand a chance of starting to pick up what were casual holiday lets/annexes where people don't want the 'risk' of cleaning it after strangers each week and don't want the 'risk' of getting caught out if one renter ends up in quarantine blocking their following week's booking and where they don't want the 'risk' of more strangers being around their families. I just need to try to time it right to get one. I figure if I start looking early/mid May to gauge things and start approaches ... I might get lucky with an ongoing/open ended situation where somebody's given up the ghost for the summer season being appropriate for the lifestyle they imagined.6 -

Just an added thought in case you happen to have one tucked away at the back of a cupboard you've never got round to using... or somebody else has.
If you google "how do ....." then you'll find a couple of professional cleaners have showed/explained what they do and why.6 -
Every cloud has a silver lining as they say. This virus has given me the best excuse not to go to social things which I hate anyway. I can still go out and dig the garden (if it ever stops raining) which I like doing and as the trapped nerve in my neck that I got in January is getting much better digging sounds like some good exercise to me. It also means that I can get the vegetables in which also might be a good idea.I can also clean our house which is another job that needs doing. A really good spring clean. It needs it.I will also have time to think about what I have found out about myself in the last two months. It has taken a trapped nerve to find out that I am very likely to be on the autistic spectrum with what used to be called Asperger Syndrome. I was going to get an official diagnosis soon by something tells me that it will have to wait a bit longer. There is no rush it has only taken 62 years for me to find out.7

DH has removed toilet roll from his store shelves after people were grabbing from the staff member putting them out and getting aggressive. People now have to ask for it and are limited to one pack. Most are choosing 9 roll packs. There are lots of people in the area who have neither the funds or transport to be able to stock up. One very elderly customer today mentioned that she would buy a bit more to avoid going out again but couldn't carry it home. DH took it all to her home for her.
Spend less now, work less later.9 -
