Pyxis said:I have a kosher question for any Jewish Nice People on here.
With all the popularity of vegan food at the moment, I started wondering if things like quorn, tofu, mycoprotein and seitan are kosher. I dare say it also depends on whether you are orthodox or reformed, or does it?
Also things like Kefir milk and Kefir water, and other fermented foods like kimchi etc. Are they kosher?
Don’t know why I started wondering that! Perhaps because I’ve been upping my intake of fresh herbs and things like root turmeric, fresh ginger and black garlic. I also tried burdock root for the first time, too. So, have been thinking about ‘strange’ foods.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I feels a bit close to home now; our local hospital is one of the seven isolation centres (actually there's probably more now- I can't seem to find a reliable list).

Hope the NP are stocked up and prepared for the 'Social Distancing' phase coming soon.
I've spent the last month preparing to mothball our businesses when the probably inevitable nationwide shutdown happens in the next couple of weeks. We're now ready for it with a decent reserve in place to see us through temporary closure if (or more likely when) required, but we had to make a call on this very early and act quickly to pull it off.
We now have 2 months food/supplies in the house, and will increase that to 3 months by this weekend.
Then we're planning to pretty much stay at home other than for emergencies and low risk situations (isolated walk on the beach, etc) until we see how this plays out.

I was in a supermarket today and it was awash with tissue boxes, toilet rolls and such. People were buying but not so panicky. I didn't bother: we've got plenty of stuff.

The irony is that, in my own home, I'd be able to do a personal lockdown for weeks without even noticing anything different. I'd be able to have food available, be able to cook it, wash up, keep myself to myself.
Things aren't like that though ... p155 poor timing, eh!
I don't need other people and could easily have simply shut the door and pottered around at home, alone, for weeks.... with room to have had what I wanted/needed available.
B4lls.
If I pop out and buy a big pack of loo roll, there's nowhere to keep it that doesn't make the room look like a corner shop ... especially if I added in 2-3 jars of coffee, half a dozen tins of peas, a spare/the next ketchup and all the other things one'd like.
In my own home I'd have access to a hygienic fridge and freezer too ... clean oven/hob, clean sink. Here every kitchen surface is under a pile of personal debris, clutter and stuff piled high on every surface, nothing ever cleaned. If a croissant is baked in the oven one morning, the tray's tossed in the sink for 2-3 days, the crumbs are on the worktop forever, any wrappers are left piled up ... and you're kicking bits of stuff around on the floor too. I've been going in there about once a week to use the nuker very very briefly for, say, a pouch rice - but even stopped doing that as it's not cleaned, ever.6 -
Pastures, could you get your own microwave out of store to use? I shouldn’t worry about your room looking like a corner shop.......no-one’s going to see it, although it’s a nuisance for you. Perhaps a big box you can fill and stick a cloth over?
On a lighter note, any extreme owls or larks might have seen the latest spam offerings in The Arms earlier........several posts offering spells for sale. 😂😂😂😂
Most were silly things like make your ex-boyfriend love you again, but there was also a death spell.😱😱😱
It’s a shame these spell makers can’t use their enviable powers for the greater good, like a bottomless source of loo-rolls. Sorry about the pun! 😜🤪(I just lurve spiders!)

As for no-one's going to see it ... "she" will when she arbitrarily walks in and has a look around... eyes scanning the room as she does. There is nowhere to put a big box to put things into. The room is uber-full of her clutter and things. Knick knacks, cushions, shredder, magazines, videos, 3 umbrellas, assorted bits and pieces, glasses, vases, couple of xmas decorations... it wasn't an "empty room", it's full of eye-rapers... "relax" cushions, flouncy lamps with flouncy lampshades, a printer (?) and other boxes on top of the cupboard, some plant up there, trailing (not sure if that's real/fake or dead/alive)....
I've actually kept my own bin/recycling since I moved in... a little bin in the corner and a little box for recycling... I then decant those to the car and drop them off at public bins and recycling bins when I'm out and about. Can't even bear to use/touch her bins.6 -
That’s a bit odd, letting out a room but keeping all one’s personal dross in it. ☹️(I just lurve spiders!)

And the en-suite... still has old sponges, old cosmetics, an armful of products in plastic bottles, 4-5 shower/bath bathing scrunchies, a grubby/used long handled back scrubber.... and about 20 knick knacks and a couple of plants and weighing scales and a couple of buckets/bowls ... and 12-20 used/half used cleaning products' bottles.... and that's just clutter off the top of my head I've had to bundle up and try to put to 2-3 corners to keep it out of the way of my stuffEven the bin was full of old tissues, empty containers, cotton buds, contact lens covers/containers. I don't really know what a lot of the stuff is I just moved it and couldn't bear to touch/look at it... just bundled it all into a couple of corners and stacked up on the window sill. And there's about 6 pictures, 3-4 ornaments and a few wooden hanging signs in there.
In the wet room/shower section there's a floor standing metal "stuff holder" ... full of stuff. I've no idea what stuff, as I've just ignored it.... but it's used stuff that people would put in there, like sponges and scrunchies and what not.
There's also a canvas lined basket... full of used stuff/products, shampoos/whatnot ... no idea what... but it's not mine.
Even the soap holder on the affixed shower rod had old bits of soap in it - and lots (assortment of colours) welded to the plastic.... I've no idea how to get that off, it needs scraping really I guess.... I've ignored it/not used it and left it.
I've not unpacked as there's no room for my stuff.... and I just don't want to get my stuff out in such a chaotic mess.
When I arrived there was all her (heavy/large) bedding... I removed all that and put my quilt/cover on and sheets.... in the bedside cabinet there are 2 further packets of brand new linens..... which I will never use as I have my stuff.....6
