GDB2222 said:“ Seriously, though, would it be an idea just to come home anyway? Just in case you get “locked out”, so to speak?”I will discuss this with Management. EasyJet will charge for changing the flight, I guess. I heard a rumour that all new arrivals will have to be isolated for 14 days, regardless of where they came from. Clearly, if true, that’s not compatible with having a tourist industry.
Edit - The BBC confirms that. From Thursday, ALL arrivals will have to self isolate for 14 days. So, presumably flights in will be cancelled, and that means no flights out either.Clearly, the government here has not fully taken into account that I only brought two pairs of shorts and one bottle of sunscreen.
Due to the ridiculous situation where airlines lose their slots if they don't fly the planes, they could well carry on flying, even if empty.
There must be some plan for some flights to continue as people will need to return to Israel if they are abroad.
From what I hear you may be safer where you are, corona is spreading through the suburb, but that may be an exaggeration. Apparently the dentist's son tested positive without symptoms and unwittingly passed it on. I also heard a rumour that the dentist had been in his surgery before becoming ill, so your wife's cancelled appointment was very lucky.
Most up to date Israeli news in English is the i24 news channel, which reports government announcements well before they reach the official government english website pages.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I know this isn’t the place for ‘political’ comment, but I am becoming increasingly upset by the refusal here to prevent further spread by cancelling events, ostensibly on economic grounds, especially when yesterday both a WHO spokesperson and a European Early
Alert thing person suggested that the British government wasn’t doing enough.
It seems to me that a certain high-ranking Government person, not renowned for his empathy, together with another person of an advisory capacity, might be thinking that ‘collateral damage’ might be better for their future votes/political reputation than some relatively short-term economic drop, probably having first ensured that any of their vulnerable loved ones are safe and have instant access to private doctors, nurses and respirators.
I apologise for that, and if anyone wants me to delete it as inappropriate for the thread, I shall, but I thought that in here people might empathise with my angst.
(Just to say, I didn’t vote for either of the main parties, so have no particular party axe to grind. I am just upset at being considered expendable 😢)
I shall now go and cry into my green tea with lemon.(I just lurve spiders!)

The dentist was working for a week after his return from holiday, but he got a fever over the weekend. Fortunately, my wife's appointment was on the Monday after he got the fever, rather than the Friday before. The approach in Israel is draconian, but it may have some chance of stopping the virus spreading. Out of a population of 7 million, 100,000 are in quarantine. Given that people can spread the virus, yet have no symptoms, the UK approach has no chance of working. The only question I am not sure about is whether it is worth even bothering to try to stop the virus spreading? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?6

I think all these comments should stay. Pyxis comments apply in uk and USA. I believe that the virus needs to run its course but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do our best to contain it, if that makes sense.
Right , I'm off to the doctors, wish me luck!Spend less now, work less later.8 -

We got out of the train station, and the taxi driver asked where we were from. If we had said Italy, we could walk.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?6
