I like looking through some old threads, to see the discussion. And, to find out what happens.

In this thread from 2019: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6051334/sellers-are-valuing-their-house-130k-above-what-they-paid

    This house was discussed: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/74102146#/?channel=RES_BUY

The asking price was £400k, when the house had been bought for £270k in 2016.

The OP suggested that they would offer £300k for the property, and were told that was ridiculously low. And, the EA said that the property was worth £390k.

So, from 2024, looking at sold house prices for Jaguar Close, in Coventry, only one house has sold since 2019. And, that was in 2021, and it sold for £311k. Looking at the old listing on Zoopla, it is a less impressive looking house than the one under discussion, but it was some years later. https://www.zoopla.co.uk/house-prices/coventry/stoney-stanton-road/hanford-close-industrial-estate/cv6-3lu/

In the hindsight of seeing what happened, it seems that the OP of that thread was right, and the house wasn't worth anything like the asking price. And, it appears that house never sold at all.

Well the owners were flying a kite then. They probably didn't want/need to move, but came up with the idea that if someone was to offer them something silly, they'd move. As nobody did, they didn't.

Yes, but the discussion in the thread at that time didn't come to that conclusion. Only time told.

Copied this from a "certain" Reddit thread...

Here's a lovely house with immaculately restored oak beams, beautiful gardens, stylish bathroom and kitchen. What could possibly go wrong?

The streetview selected by the agent is an old sewer with a rough sleeper, some firepits and garbage bags. Not even that close to the actual property

Ah old thread always bring up contributor names forgotten in the mists of time. I wonder what happened to Phoebe1989seb who was a regular fixture here. I don't wonder what happened to crashy_time.

Oh, and the OP was another "Eats, shoots and leaves" merchant.

I've seen that quite often. There will be a reason. I sometimes wonder if it was pre-double glazing improving the insulation of the house. Or: dungeons.

More of a subtle one. This house has the layout of many terraced houses near me. Which have two decent sized bedrooms, and a small narrow one that sticks out. That's really marginal for a bedroom. But, here the small bedroom has been divided to create an upstairs toilet. The original bedroom would have been marginal in the first place. But, after the division, calling bedroom 3 a bedroom is, to my mind, not reasonable. There's a piece of furniture in the downstairs dining room that might be a bed. If so, that's perhaps a bit of a giveaway (to my mind) that bedroom 3 doesn't work any more.

Between 1696 and 1851, one had to pay a tax on the number of windows. Some claim that this lead to windows being bricked up to avoid the tax. Others suggest that it was an architectural thing. Take your pick.

That third bedroom might work as a nursery, but as a bedroom, no space for a proper bed.
Also concerned about the distance between the bath & washing machine....
