Definitely warts and all video 'virtual viewing' of a property up for auction.

    From this auction: https://www.bondwolfe.com/auctions/properties/239997-property-auction-hartlepool/

Property sold for £30k in October 2023, and was immediately listed for £15k in November 2023. Sold today for £36k.

I suspect there is a very sad story or stories behind all this.
God, I can imagine the smell in there as well. It looks like it’s had squatters living there. Notice the graffiti on the front door.

I was trying to work out what it said and if it gave a clue as to the reason for sale
Look at Google streetview for Sept 2022 and you can see the extent of the graffiti and exactly what it said.
I wont repeat it  or screencap to post the image.
It was boarded up by August 2023 .

The row of houses opposite were completely replaced with a new estate of houses.
I never thought that so many houses would have been knocked down to make the newbuild estate. Looking at 2012 shows that, as you point out. I wonder if there was something structurally wrong with them.

Again, it was a surprise to see what the graffiti was. That puts quite a different context on things. I'm not saying the accusation in the graffiti is true or not - I don't know. But, just that it was put onto the house... that in itself raises various scenarios.

EDIT: There is something in the local paper which provides context for the graffiti.
  • It seems common in North east towns for a "regeneration" project to involve bulldozing perfectly good houses and then building new ones in their place.

Stick in a few modern art pieces and job done.

Nevermind about creating sustainable employment or eliminating the supply of illegal drugs

The estate does look nicer and might attract new people in who will bring new life to it.

Last year 2 similar properties on the street were auctioned for £10,000 each due to being partially ransacked. Story in Metro.

It removes unmortgageable housing stock from private landlords’ hands and allows ‘help to buy’ type developments, or sometimes social housing to take its place. But yes, the community may still not be sustainable, and it simply displaces some families to create problems elsewhere.

One of them appears to be next door to the house the video above is from.

The £10,000 was a guide price. Looking at Zoopla two houses in that square have sold for £30-34k, and one for £79k. I'm not sure which is the one that sold for £79k. I think that £30k was the house in the video upthread, and the £34k was the house next door in the metro article: https://www.zoopla.co.uk/property/uprn/100110025739/

The house that sold for £79k is an end of terrace at the end of the white-ish houses.

I'm not sure that I'd call it a roof terrace, if you need to climb a steep ladder and out through a window to access a bit of decking with no view.

Yes I have looked at the Google streetview image with the Graffiti and found the online newspaper article which explained it all.  I just needed to satisfy my curiosity.

I thought it was worrying that children clearly had lived in that house- before I saw the graffiti and Googled.  That makes it even worse.  I hope that he has no contact with children or teens now.
