Grateful for:- my old-age parents (78 and 83) who are still willing to look after my dds for a whole week at their place.- DDs willing to spend a whole week at their grandparents' place and being good about outings (they went to the local museum yesterday)- Snow! Only yesterday morning, and it's all gone now.- croci, snowdrops, daffodils in bloomLast night I slaughtered a butternut pumpkin (gift from neighbour's son last autumn) and made an over roast with potatoes, the last sweet potato, onions, and half a pepper. We ate it with poached salmon.NSD again, because I have made a shopping list, but decided I can wait until Saturday afternoon.I have done a lot of laundry this week, even the sofa covers
Now I need to hoover the sofa cushions before I put the covers back on. I need to figure out a way to reinforce the cushions themselves, as they have a very fragile fabric holding the filling in place; the tab says I can wash the cushions, but I'm afraid the fabric will tear and spill the filling. Maybe old pillowcases will do the job.

Hi everyone
I had a NSD yesterday making a total of 12On Tuesday I worked at home which was great and good to have a rest from the commute and save a bit of petrol money. Also did some of my part time job and then went to the cinema to see Emma - loved it! My car is at the garage today having an MOT & service but i have put money aside which I hope will be enough. Also having my hair cut. Won't be a NSD today.
Gratitudes:
sunny blustery day so my washing is drying on the line
nice day off, chilling and watching ITV hub
relaxing hair cut coming up...

Today was NSD 16, I went volunteering and did the school run. Supper was super cheap vegetable rahmen. Nothing else to report. My snow did not arrive. Grateful for feeling much better, for a very funny, very long, chat with another mum at the school gates (I saved her £180 when she took my advice last year), for tomorrow being payday! woo hoo!

Today I am grateful for the big oak tree that I drive past starting to bud, for seeing an amazing snowstorm (I was more excited than my y10s! But they were happy to stand at the window watching it with me for a while!), for a good session at the gym, for dd having a much better day than anticipated, for plenty of walking, for a clear moon tonight, for yet another nsd.

I seem to have become more lurker of late - it's not intentional. I love posting on here because it really does keep me on the straight and narrow. Real life has this continual habit of getting in the way. I thought that once the exam marking was done I'd get on and enjoy life. The end of the situation with ex turned out to be more of a downer than I thought, with the finances worse than I thought - then the cats... one dead, one uninsured costing £900 with a cancer scare, and another needing £650 of dental treatment. I love them so much but the money stresses me out and then the thought of losing them makes me cry, etc. Work is brilliant and I'm being given so many opportunities - interviewing, climate change lead, but it means that I'm busy doing that as well as the teaching. On top of money worries and stressing about the cats and being too busy at work I am now also ill with a cold, snotty nose, stuffy head, sore throat and earache. I just feel so run down at the moment. I feel as though I need a break - a decent night of sleep with no interruptions and no need to get up and do anything unless I want to for a couple of days. I can barely remember what it's like just to be mam...
Thank goodness we're having a mental health awareness day tomorrow at work. I will at least feel less lonely, even if I don't feel better.

mothernerd said:Will people stop saying we have no standards - it sounds like we lie around all day drinking gin with no knickers on. We have a lot of extremely tough rules. We may not always quite reach our targets (turtles never 'fail' - none of that defeatist talk) but we try and we keep on trying. We are unfailingly kind and supportive. Many of us have been through extremely tough times and survived and we choose to use that knowledge for the benefit of others. Those are standards (even if they coudn't be ticked off in little boxes).Lol sorry Mothernerd, that was probably me. I was concerned that lurkers and readers, who might like to join in but are a bit nervous, seemed to be a bit put off by the idea of lots of tough rules. Although of course they might be equally nervous about the gin drinking and lack of knickers scenario
Especially this weather
Spend day today for me, as I needed a few items from the supermarket, must note the damage in my spends diary.Grateful for now getting over the virus that floored me over the weekend, a bit of sunshine this afternoon (though we had high winds, rain and sleet beforehand, yes, all in the one day) and for the spring bulbs at different stages in my garden

dolly84 said:When we emptied DS's room we sorted through his clothes and I listed a bundle of really lovely items on Freecycle along with some gaming magazines. I had 4 people interested in the clothing bundle and 3 of them just sent a message saying 'is this available, can you deliver', nothing else, no Hi, no thank you, I just deleted them all - so rude. The fourth one never came back to me so I am donating them to the charity shop.

On freeg1e and suchlike, my sister always writes giving a couple of potential collection days and time slots and asks people to choose one. It helps weed out those who don't read the full piece! And shows who is serious about collecting.I've put stuff on gumt recently (spread over many posts as we're not up to multiple photos yet!) and someone asked for it all. Then asked what deal I'd do for them. No way! They also wanted it posted so we knocked a bit off the full total and asked for the address. Radio silence ensues... But so many other people have just said 'hi, it this still available?' that I think it is one of the quick textx/replies offered. But it is sooo darned rude! However, I do now need to go back through them all and try to dispose of some items, and people will think I've been rude by not responding to them immediately!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7
