Hmm am sort of failing NSD challenge this month, only have 5 so far. Having ds home for recovery and now on study leave as well as French visitor has meant a lot of extra grocery runs an no real planning! I'm coming in on budget though and will do a weekly shop tomorrow or Saturday so should be able to claim most of next week as NSD.
Am grateful for a day off today. And a workday without students tomorrow.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Now that I have actually joined the challenge, after reading along for years, I am in even more admiration for all of you actually keeping track and managing the goals!I sometimes have a helicopter view of my life, but mostly I feel like a U-boat, that life is happening over my head, I occasionally pop up and see what's happening, and go into oblivion again. I prefer the helicopter view, to be honest. It doesn't help that I had a very stressful job for 11 years, which made my memory go from 'photographic' to 'shot'
.

I'm eating my way through the soft ones (e.g. goat with fig filling) now, and will probably grate and freeze the hard ones tonight. I need to taste them, to be able to tell if they will do nicely with spaghetti

Back from mum's and back from her appointment. Got to mum's before 7pm last night and went straight into my room (made two of the sourdough rolls up with cheese, grabbed a cup and put away some bits for mum. She came in at 11pm to see if I wanted to go and watch some tv but I declined - quite happy with my books (read 2).We are both struggling with the twice weekly district nurse appointments. Mum really didn't want to go this morning. I put cream on her legs and helped with her socks. Weather horrible - it had stopped raining when I put things in the bins and unlocked the door and padlock but the wind blew and the tree dropped all the rainfall it was holding onto my head. Anyway we got there and mum has given me tomorrow off as well as the taxi dropping me off at the door (rather than me fighting my way across the main road, the front of little Arseda, the church and the library and then across the car park). I went to get blood test forms for mum whilst we were at the infirmary but the vampires were busy - I didn't look, mum did and then gasped. Monday's appointment is late afternoon so will probably be easier to do it then. Mum said we could go after Thursday's appointment, then i said it was Thursday (I'm having trouble remembering what day it is too).Going to sloth on the bed for a while and then attack my list. Made a mistake with my medication - didn't take late pill last night (that happens about once every two or three months) but then did not have any to take this morning. I had measured out 7 days supply to leave at mum's but the most important pill went in my bag to bring home. Have just taken it now so will wait to make sure things are stabilised.Fish pie not on the agenda, it's been mostly cheese butties (tomatoes ran out earlier in the week) and toast, yummy toast.Today I am grateful for mum's treatment and her leg improving, for easy food, for having 3 days to do things in so can afford a little (much needed) rest now.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage10

Still on NSD No 14
Visited Sister in law today. She slept the whole time we were there. She looked so peaceful I didn't have the heart to wake her.
Bought s a few bits and pieces to add to dinner tonight and got three packets of YS mixed fish. Now frozen for another time. Fish is so expensive but I love it and really can't resist when I see it reduced.
My budget is a bit confused next month. I changed a few suppliers and bank accounts and I'm a bit unclear when all my direct debits etc come out. I'll keep am eye on it and it will be all sorted out for April.
Mothernerd - You are an absolute marvel. I just don't know how you fit so much in to your life especially with all your health issues. Your mother is very lucky to have you there.
F0xh0les/Siebrie - You certainly can freeze cheese as the top shelf of my freezer will testify. No idea what I'm going to do with it and when.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.12 -
Today I am grateful for access to mse - albeit a tad random, for getting out and about this morning before more grotty weather arrived, for a really good optician, for deciding to completely change my specs (tho I've not yet chosen the completely different frame...!), for getting a free eye test, for time with big sis before she headed off into deepest darkest Kentland, for dh making tea, for dd spontaneously sorting through her syl families, for not having Jessica Fletcher as one of my friends as murder follows her e v e r y w h e r e!

f0xh0les said:Today will be NSD 12!F0xh0les lied.I accidentally bought a wooden double bed frame from a charity shop (£40) and have put it up and it looks great, all made up and ds4 loves it. We will see if he manages to trash this one. The mangled twisted bits of metal that used to be his bed are now by the front door waiting to go on a trip to the metal recycling tomorrow. As I was there, I also accidentally bought one of those glass patio tables and 2 fabric chairs (£15). They were all on the list of things to keep an eye open for, and I did have money left in this week's budget. Although I might have borrowed £6 from next week's budget, but there are two less things on the list to look for. There was another bed frame I was interested in, but they could only find 4 of the 5 pieces, so will keep popping in, in case the missing bit reappears. £40 for a solid wood bedframe is not to be sniffed at. Also went into another c/s and they had lovely blue single sheets for £1 each, and some lovely double valances for £2 and new pjs and new purple duvet sets. All cotton, not the usual polycotton I buy, but they were all new, so I ended up spending £13 and I am flippin' delighted with my haul. They were all on the list of things to look out for. It was like the charity shop fairy was looking out for me today. So still on NSD 11. but very happy with what I managed to find.

F0xh0les-can I borrow your charity shop fairy please? I would also have blown a NSD for a £40 bed frame!
No such bargains to be found around here so NSD 10/14-I am determined to get to 14, although the rabbits are unimpressed with the fresh veg part of the daily ration tonight and have asked nicely if I could please provide some fresh greens tomorrow so some spends will be required😂.
A body lotion tub is finally empty, it takes me forever to use them up as I never remember to put the stuff on. I have at least 2 open tubs before I start the full ones!13
