NSD No 14
Mothernerd - Love the idea of the community shop. Wish we had one. I hate waste of food.
Well, so far this month the NSDs are finances are going well. Can't say the same for everything else. I think it's a combination of the weather, sister in law being so ill and worrying about Himself's health even if he doesn't. Maybe a little bit post holiday blues as well. Looking forward to going away again in a week or so but I guess that doesn't solve the last two points. However, so many people much, much worse off.
On the plus side, I do have plans for the rest of the year so must focus of that.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.11 -
mothernerd said:1917 is on the film club programme for the end of this year, along with JoJo Rabbit and Knives Out (all the evening showing). Lots to look forward to.Also grateful for losing weight. Stomach is getting smaller. Still an awful long way to go but doing the right things most of the time seems to be working.f0xh0les said:CCL - you are out of your routine, sometimes routine provides stability, have a lovely afternoon out.Is fish pie on the menu mothernerd? I love the idea of a fish mountain at the bottom of the freezer. Puts an image inside my head. 0 degrees under the sea.I am starting to get a bit concerned - I have not had any post in a week. Properly no post, not even for dh and his rainforest shopping obsession. Must be worried about strike pay coming out next month. ...

Today I am grateful for a(nother!) pyjama day, for yummy food, for time with big sis + niece, for my laptop, for finding more of the Young Sherlock books.

Mothernerd - sounds like a ys bargain shop without the ys, so you can have that. I declare mothernerds community shop to be a MSE ys emporium. We have a community fridge shop that saves food from supermarkets, we have Fareshare who rescue food and they donate some to the foodbank so there is fresh fruit and veg for the clients (or anyone whether they have a voucher or not), and we have a pay-as-you-feel shop about 10 minutes drive away, that has a cafe attached and they do a 3 course lunch for £3.50. Some are about poverty, but an awful lot are simply about stopping food from ending up in landfill because the supermarket model is so wasteful. The supermarkets are happy to get rid of the stuff for free now they have to pay to dump them. Which is why there are less ys bargains at closing time. There are still a lot, but they are palming off trays and trays of fresh fruit and veg a week that they have over ordered the day before, or on the day they go out of date.

Evening everyone. Just posting an update to keep me on track.
Clothes - wore pink jumper (see previous ramblings) with black trousers for work. Look ok so will wear again.
New music / dance - Radio 2 stand in DJ helping me sing out loud & do a steering wheel tap this morning!
Dates - looking forward to my 2nd one tomorrow
Self care - had my fringe cut for free as I have my regular haircuts there. Saved on paying for a full cut but looks like I have had one!
Budgets / Debts - we think our council tax MIGHT be in the wrong band. We are going to challenge it. Will ring in the morning. Has anyone on here successfully done this? We are in Wales so slightly different from the England process but worth a go!
NSDs - 4/8. Thanks to free fringe cut and broken car park meter.
also a No Spin Dryer day!
Gratitudes - DS enjoying football camp, broken car park machine, free fringe cut.

Evening allApologies, I have been missing in action, but trying to keep the faith in this horrible weather! Now on NSD 8. It wasn't one today as I did a shop at Lidl. Using up is going well, (though the freezers still seem to be crammed) and I haven't spent much on food etc so far this month. I am grateful today for not getting as wet while out and about as I did yesterday, for OH being home after his few days away, and all the spring bulbs that are appearing in the garden. Not many in flower yet, but I do have some of those teeny tiny daffodils coming out11

Still on NSD 9 - small shop by DH today at Tesc0 for rolls and milk - and then he bought himself and DS2 a chippy tea (1 portion chips between the 2 of them) - DS3 doesn't like chipshop food and I had chicken and lots of veggies - need to lose weight!
Grateful for DS2 liking the glasses at the opticians which were fully covered by the NHS voucher (yeay!), DS2 & DS3 clearing more stuff from their rooms, the boys playing nicely together for majority of the day

Wednesday- NSD 9/14, spent most of the day catching up on washing, and getting sorted for being back at school/work tomorrow.
Did manage to sort out some of DDs clothes, have a small bag for charity shop, a bigger ragbag and a couple of bits for a friends little one. Anything leaving the house is good, and I think more items will leave than came in last week.
Gratitudes- a small amount of decluttering, ponies, friends and DD.

Morning all! Nothing really to report. I have swerved the kids demanding to go to town by making 2 cakes last night. They will now be happy to stay home munching on cake and hot chocolate. The weather is lovely for ducks and turtles, not so much for anyone else. So glad we have always chosen to buy a house on a hill, but so sad to see places where we have walked along the canals and riverbanks in Lancashire and Hereford being so far underwater. Even more annoyed by the claim 'it is not news, it is just weather' . Are we not beyond climate change denial yet?Today will be NSD 12!
