Loving the diy Dolly! Sounds like money well spent. Don't forget ys bargains let you keep your NSD, as does petrol, because I do not want you running out of petrol in all this daft weather we seem to be having. Safety first please. I am happily sofa'd and am making lists of things that need to be achieved over the half term and planning on annexing all neighbouring territories4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

On Tuesday it tried to snow (it hit the ground as raindrops but was falling like snow) then it hailed, in the afternoon the sun came out and there was a clear blue sky for all of ten minutes before it chucked it down for about 2 hours. That's what my day felt like today. Won't go into the whole boring saga but I've wept (I recognise it's the illness making me vulnerable), made progress, felt happy, sank into despair. Dragged myself out to boots (put warm thick clothes on top of my nightie) and bought throats lozenges (and sandwiches ys'd to 50p) then went to buy chocolate (chose Wilko because they have an inside bench to sit on).Kitchen renovation is now on hold as the drain people are coming back tomorrow and we might need to have the cctv camera down there to check for any unsuspected blockages. It doesn't completly wipe out my plans (unless there's something nasty that means digging up the whole yard - those flags have been down for at least 28 years - but not going to dwell on that for now). It has to be sorted and it will cost.Today I am grateful for DS3 coming upstairs when he heard me weeping ( he didn't do much but it was all the right things), for ys sandwiches and chocolate, for shops who provide places to sit and for having the money to fix a problem (even if there are things I would rather do with the money - the boring unglamorous stuff has to take priority). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage8

Masses of hugs mothernerd - I mean, who saves for drains? nobody that is who! Hope that the problem is on 'their side' rather than 'your side', I suppose that is what our emergency funds are for. Until the drain blocks or the ceiling falls in, no sane person thinks of that expense.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

"DDs both happily in love with nice young men" - Aw, Deni. How lovely on Valentine's Day. Hope your friend's treatment has gone well.
Thanks Toni'sfriendThey are more successful at relationships than me!
Friend's treatment was not too invasive thankfully but still scary and always the worry that it could return...

The army are descending on our area this weekend to assist with the expected flooding from the storm. We live far enough away to not be affected but it does feel like an apocolypse.Have been out this morning before the weather really kicks in, have bought a few things for lunch in Sainsburys, a shampoo bar as mine is nearly done now, taken DS to trade in some games and called at the second hand furniture shop to look for a small table but didn't find one. Have had an early lunch then need to venture back out to get f&v and return some library books, also want to look at carpets for DS's room.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hi all, hope everyone safe & dry on this awful day!
Clothes - spent the day in pjs they match so that’s something!
Music - Spent the day sorting paperwork & set up the shredder in the kitchen so listened to the radio a different DJ than usual and enjoyable.
Dance - Had a sing a long so not quite a dance but a bit of toe tapping!
Dates ✅ all organised
Self Care - Rubbish today!
Budgets / Debt goals - no change all on track.
NSD - 1/8
Gratitudes - Having everything we need for tea already in, having nowhere I need to be, a forgotten box of maltesers!
Stay Away - Usually have takeaway if we are home on a Saturday but have pizzas in the freezer so having those instead.
Other thoughts occurred whilst sorting through paperwork - Going to go paperless on credit card bills. I have apps for them and pay as soon as I get the notification my statements ready. Lots of pensions paperwork need to look into moving ones from previous employment to current x 4!
We pay Life Insurance, Critical illness, and income protection. Think these need reviewing as my salary has increased a lot since we took them out. It never ends hey?!!

dolly84 said:greent - what sort of rice did you use for your rice pudding? I used to buy flaked rice and make it in a pan when the kids were small but you don't seem to be able to get that anymore.Stripping the beds today and may try getting the sheets on the line in the sunshine. Will wash the floors and generally make sure everything is cleaned and ready for the weekend. Walked the dog for 7 miles yesterday so I didn't bother running or cycling, I think I may do some yoga today - I will follow someone on Youtube as it is a long time since I did any.DD has her first proper date tonight. She is going to the cinema and out for something to eat, we are dropping them off and the boys mum is bringing them home. I am a bit stressed about them being at one of these out of town complexes on a Friday night but they have to start being independent at some point.
dolly - I use pudding rice from A1d1 - think it was 69p (or thereabouts - that sort of price, anyway)/ 500gm bag, from memory. I don't see it in there very often, so I tend to buy 4 bags at a time. I have been known to use risotto rice before when it's been ood and a bit 'stale' - but that's an expensive way to make rice pud! I've also used basmati, but that wasn't quite 'right' in flavour - I think it would work with cardamom in and , say, a mango coulis served with it, though
