Beware Of M &s Online Shopping

I have also had problems both times I have used this online 'service' and will definitely not be using M&S online again, even though I have a £20 credit on my account, given to me as a gesture of goodwill for them mesing up again. Both times I was able to order, both times I recevied emails giving me new despatch dates. And when I phoned up 2 weeks later I was told it was out of stock.
I was referred to their T&Cs where it states that they will only supply if they have them in stock, but I would have thought once you get an email stating when the delivery date is then it must be in stock and you will be getting the order.
Never again! Their customer service is as good as their delivery service and I will be avoiding M&S Online like the plague in future.0 -
I have also had a bad experience with M&S online although in my case the item that was out of stock meant that they then charged me postage for the further two items in my order after I'd used the 'free delivery for orders over £30' code from their website. I just felt this was a poor show so complained and was refunded (I also returned one of the items) & given a 'goodwill gesture' but it has discouraged me from ever using their website again and I would be happy to co-operate with any Watchdog investigation that's instigated. Someone at work has had a similar problem with M&S online and won't be using them again either so it's a large problem with their website.0

Hi
Dodo
One of the benefits of shopping online is that you can see "what's available". So when I shop at Amazon I can see what is available for dispatch immediately, in 1 to 2 weeks, a month etc. This allows me to make an informed decision about whether I buy or not. This is obviously not true at M & S. They say everything is available when it (clearly) isn't. THIS MATTERS AT CHRISTMAS. I do not prefer store shopping to online shopping - in this instance I was left with no choice.
Why shop at M&S at all ?- well, like Ikea, in some areas M&S are the only shop to provide certain things - you can't get those things somewhere else easily.
Furthermore, having failed their customers - see the 2 messages above- M&S's "recovery position" is very poor and only adds insult to injury.
I would really like to whistle blow M&S by going to Watchdog. I'm sure there is a story here. However, I'm concerned about doing this for a number of reasons to do with work....this might not stop me though. I really do feel that we are just the tip of an ice berg.
This has put me off M&S. They still havn't responded to my letter:mad:. All I've had is a "bog-standard" e mail which was meaningless. I will almost certainly vote with my wallet in the future:money:. Sometimes, we can't vote with our wallet immediately but change our spending habits with time.
Anyway, I'm not angry any more but I will think about shopping somewhere else when I can.:rudolf:
MSE is about being a better informed consumer. Thanks for sharing and letting me know that I'm not the only one whose had a cr** time...0 -

when u receive ur ordereddd does it looks exactly like the pic or it's not the same?
and wt are the problems that face u when buy from the website besides the late delivey??0 -
Hi
Urhhhhh If they never turn up - how do I know if they look like the picture?
M & S's "website" is fab - it works a treat...but that's the cheap bit. It's window dressing. They have obviously invested no money on all the important bits that go on behind the web site. The stock systems, distribution, etc, etc...it's obviously truly flaky and run on a shoe string budget.0 -
Oh my !
If you dont like the M&S website you can always shop instore where you will often get excellent customer service.
Our retail M&S store receives the delivery of non food products such as clothing, shoes, ladies, mens & kids and it is all put onto the shop floor on a Tue, Thur and Saturday morning. You can always order from the instore icos desk if you want to avoid the customer website!0
