In case it helps, here in France we have a model for home-made masks that respect Cat 2 safety guidelines and is approved by government: https://www.afnor.org/en/news/info-on-the-afnor-barrier-mask-in-english-speaking-countries/
Edit: just so you don't spend time and money making things that are not approved as useful.
I am doing similar, was a tutorial a hospital put out.
but I am definitely going to have to stop orders after tonight as it's non stop. I was going to bed an hour ago and I have only just managed to get up here.
I think I have enough orders for this week!!

Yes I wear glasses so I know what you mean.
I am doing what I can with what I have. I have found a better design with nose wires to fit the face more but it is getting the wire.
I have had to tell people that they are on a waiting list.
I am just going to finish the private practice scrubs and then I will crack the orders. The pharmacy opposite me now wants me to help supply fabric masks as they don't have any paper ones left to sell.
I managed to finish two sets of scrubs today. Only 5 more to finish by Friday.
I also did half a dozen masks and prepared 12 more ready to sew.

Life is plodding along, boys are well and getting good feedback from the school.
dgd is continuing to mix a bit more and do some work each day now.
both schools ring every week to see how everything is going.
I won't mention DS he is what he is!!
    Argh
Taken the support of my hand now, 5 weeks in, just have my fingers partially taped now. Helped me speed up my sewing to release my hand. I think moving it is helping relieve the stiffness pain and the joint in my 3rd finger.

Pipe cleaners? I believe that is what the local yarn shop is offering in their kits.

I'm a specs wearer and always had problems wearing a mask when I worked - sliding my specs down my nose means that I'm looking through the wrong bit of my varifocals!
    It's not difficult!

DH tried it while we were out this afternoon, and concluded his glasses did not feel very secure if he slid them down his nose!

Yep it certainly ain't perfect that's for sure. Will depend on frame shape and nose size too, plus varifocals as rightly pointed out.

I'm reasonably secure sliding glasses down slightly which stops most of the fogging.

I did out of an abundance of caution wear my mask for the whole shopping trip, door to door.

Now I'm probably comfortable with putting it on before I queue and taking it off when I exit supermarket land.

I have been using the wire twists that come with sandwich bags. I use two together. Seems fine in the masks we use which have been washed and dried and ironed a few times now.
