I agree. As far as I am aware we can only leave hone for the permitted purposes. A daughter coming to help with sewing is not essential. I speak to my family via phone . I can deliver essentials but have to distance for a few minutes chat on the doorstep.
Elisa What are you doing to help the NHS at the moment?
You just beat me to it. If it was their kids treating Covid patients without PPE they may just see things differently. Somebody else on here asked for ideas about tomato substitutes for their partner of three months as they liked to cook together. One person asked if that wasn't too soon to move in together if they moved in together when lockdown started. All of a sudden there are so many experts with an opinion on what everyone else is doing and how exactly lockdown/social distancing should be enacted.

Surely everyone is helping the NHS at the moment, and we are doing this by following the instructions. How does it go ? “Stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives” or something along those lines.

Well I think everybody on here just seems to interpret the regulations as they see fit . The regulations to not say you can break the rules if you are sewing for the nhs !!!

I am afraid i have to agree with other posters having clothing brought round for alterations is not essential SS is not an essential worker material can also carry the virus so unless all clothing and machines are being sanitised  continuously there is a risk to all concerned the government advice is STAY HOME unless you are an essential worker  As for the statement what are you doing for the NHS most of us are staying home to stop this virus spreading  and only going out for 1 hour exercise or essential food shopping not having shelves put up sorry its hard and its harsh but my family members dont risk their lives every day nursing  covid patients and holding their hands as they pass in London and local hospitals for people to have a button sewn on or shelves put up

I would love to have a family member come round to help me make masks but I know that it is not allowed!

I'm going to work every day at a hospital and trust me, staying at home and following the lockdown rules is far more helpful to us than anything else.
