I have had a fall trying to hang the bunting I made for dgs1's birthday today. I was going to say tomorrow but we are already in to tomorrow.
I have broken my left hand in two possibly 3 places and have had to go to A & E. back to fracture clinic tomorrow at 9am.
least the banners still up!
bad news is that I am left handed.
I gave my self quite a scare, but I am so lucky as it could have been much worse.
I have been so lucky.

Ouch, sorry to hear that, hope it heals soon.Did you tell the A&E staff you were self isolating with Covid symptoms?6

Ouch! I'm another south-paw and have broken my left arm/elbow wrist five or six times during my lifetime -very inconvenient when one was a para-legal/pa/secretary! Not to mention how it impacts you personally - pulling up knickers/trousers, putting on a bra etc etc etc. For you, of course, its even worse - dgs2 is still at the stage where he wants to be picked up, I expect - but I hope that you do get the help from DS and DGD that you are going to need. Particularly DS - he has to step up to the plate now and DGD will take her lead from him. TAKE THE XBOX AWAY FROM THEM ALL!!! I wish that I lived nearer (and wasn't in isolation) or I'd come and help. Just now though, make the most of this enforced rest to recharge your batteries - sit in the sun whilst you can - vitamin D absorbed from sunlight will help the healing xxx

Oh no, talk about kicking someone when they are down! S_s, I'm so sorry that you now have yet another problem to contend with - and a painful one to boot
I really hope you do get the help you need as you are not going to want to much for a while (((hugs)))
I'm also a leftie and had my wrist in plaster for several months due to a tendon problem (years ago, when I was training). I got very good at finding ways of doing things but always forgot and put change for the bus in the wrong pocket so couldn't get at it.
I'm lucky that I have never broken a bone. Thorsoak, the mind boggles as to what you were doing to sustain so many injuries! It's not difficult!

I hope you're recovering from the shock Ss. It's scary when something happens out of the blue like that. Now is the time for ds and dgd to step up and let you heal properly. I hope dgs1 has a lovely birthday it's supposed to be a lovely sunny day and you need to sit and soak up the rays while ds and dgd do the party.I'm 100% a leftie it's surprising how many here are too. It never goes well if I use my right hand. Broken crockery etc.I was convent educated in the 50s and it was a nightmare for years. The headmistrss and teachers would rap my knuckles with a ruler or even cane for using the wrong hand. Head teacher called it the devils hand. It was impossible to write with the other hand and I became so anxious even using my left hand my work was smears and blots. We had those wooden pens with nibs and inkwells . I was saved a year or so before the eleven plus when a male teacher appeared which was amazing. I'm surprised they let him in. He showed me how to hold my hand and wrist using the left hand so I wasn'tdragging my hand over the words already written. The blots were more me shaking and worried. I worked out years later he was an exserviceman retrained for teaching. He changed my life , was firm with the staff. Unusually for those days he told the head I would fail my 11 plus unless I could use my left hand. He got his way. I never forgot Mr Cook a kind true gentleman. My mum pushed me into the civil service but a few years later I trained as a teacher and never regretted doing so.Have a good day all make hay while the sun shines!Nice to see you back beanie. I was wondering if you were ok.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.8 -
I have been to the fracture clinic, says 6-8 weeks to heal, but "nice clean breaks so should heal well " he said.
The self isolating time was up, we just had continued to isolate because of the situation. But I did mention that 3 weeks ago DGD's had cough etc Thankyou.
I am not totally daft.
I was rapped on the knuckles and told it was a sign of the devil too. I am lucky that I can write with my right hand too. I think my sewing and typing helped me but I am definitely predominantly left.
elasticated trousers on, and a pull on bra!Mind you I only have one of them, I was going to make more, but it will have to wait now.
hopefully DS and Dgd are going to step up.
just had grief from the mother, and not looking forward to her coming by to drop off her stuff for DGS later. She just accused DS of breaking and entering her house and stealing a bike she had. He hasn't been anywhere near her house in 5 months. I am afraid I said that I wasn't interested in her opinion and that she better leave it or she would undo all my efforts to make things work.
then as I said I was going to have a sleep she wanted to know who had the children. I said DS and Dgd were quite capable and she went off on one so I basically said two not very nice words and cut her off.
I have taken pain killers and going to try to sleep while Dgs2 is sleeping and DS etc are playing with Dgs1.
not proud of my language but the woman is off her rocker, and I was just in too much pain to care. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.7 -
Oh SS, so sorry about your hand! I hope it heals well and quickly xx5

Thanks,
I cannot remember having such pain before ( except childbirth).
even the weight of a card was too much to deal with.
I am hibernating upstairs again as I am frustrated that I cannot do anything much.
we dealt with the drop off of gifts at a distance from the other granny with video call and with the mum. I did apologies in a text for swearing (even though I didn't want to, I knew that it was the right thing to do.)
I am just waiting for the next lot of pain killers to kick in.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.6
