Polly, I'm so sorry that this situation is setting your daughter back. I understand how being forced to stay inside can worsen agoraphobia because the world outside is a dangerous place againIt's not difficult!

Thank you beanie and hb2. I've suggested she looks back through all the notes she and the counsellor put together during the sessions. Not the problems discussed but the solutions they came up with. We're both determined 20 years of fighting for a good outcome wont be wiped out by the current situation. The fact her boyfriend can and is working from home is the only reason she's able to stay there for the duration. She will push herself more there to try to control the anxiety. If she was at home she'd hide under the duvet and we'd be back to the bad times. The beloved cats will help. She'll feed them and they're so loving and funny they'll brighten her day. During the cold, wet weather she struggles physically to get outdoors and although it's cold I think seeing the sun and not being able to go outdoors is upsetting her. I'm trying to motivate her to sew, knit, do some counted cross stitch or get the colouring books out. She's had her special edition Terry Pratchett colouring book for years and hasn't started it as she's afraid she'll go over the lines and spoil it. Starting it now is her challenge . I've told her Terry wont mind if she does. His books kept her in the world through bad times and she's rereading from book 1 yet again which she's done in tough times over the years. She lost a young friend to suicide at the same time Terry died and ever since she's vowed to keep going for them both. I've been reminding her of some of the Terry quotes mostly the funny ones. One I sent her is "The best research is the research you don't know you are doing" Just as all the googling and looking things up led to proper diagnosis and treatment it's prepared us both for the current situation. Today is day 11 of the second isolation. 12 weeks is a long time but she willl get through one day at a time. It's years since I read Martins email but I noticed he was on TV this morning. I was on the phone waiting to speak to someone about the Prescription Prepayment Certificate which still hasn't arrived. Meds are due Friday and will each item costing £9 I'll be looking at at least £180 upfront which I'll then have to reclaim. Everything is taking a long time at present so I want to ask if Ithere's a way I can print off the certificate although I ordered and paid over the phone. To get back to Martin he's updated on Corona and various things including the self employed and other things. Not sure if it will help anyone here including Ss but thought I'd mention it.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

There has been lots of conflicting advice about isolation, the official position now is those who need to do the 12 weeks will be contacted this week from the NHS.
It does not include all over 70s as has been reported previously, just those with specific medical conditions.
I do remember from previous posts your daughter is very unwell and may qualify, if not she may wish to isolate anyway as a precaution.
Those contacted have been told an open window is the closest they should get to the outside.
This is all advisory and not mandatory, we are expecting Mum will be among that group. We have a private enclosed back garden, she will if needed be making use of it daily for short spells when neither I or either side neighbours are out. That in her judgement is best for her.
If your daughter feels she must remain totally isolated then fine, but she may also really benefit from sensible access to the outside.

Just for info, I bought my sons 9 months ago & I have never been asked to show it. They no longer send a card, just a piece of paper which if you carried about would get ruined very quickly. I just copied the sheet of paper & stuck the cut out bit to an old cc & it has been sitting untouched in my bag ever since. They do check the prescription after the pharmacy sends them in though so that people don't try it on. There have been a lot of stories in the last couple of years of people getting bills when they have claimed they get free ones from the benefits they get (sometimes misinformed or misunderstood by the pharmacy) when they shouldn't have.

He's phoning reguarly to monitor her. He phoned the Friday before last and ramped up the self isolation to a minimum of 12 weeks. At that point she moved to her boyfriends. He has a large lovely ground floor flat which has no stairs so better for her mobility issues. It's in a huge converted victorian detached with big gardens. Other owners are working from home and making use of the garden so at the moment the advice is stay indoors.Dr has already told her the conrents of the letter we will recieve so she is following the adxice.I hope your mum stays well and the sun shines so she can get some time outside. Ir's a lot for people to adjust to quickly but we've had times over the years when it made sense not to be out and about. Things have been gradually adjusted at both the surgery and other appts to minimise her expoxure to infection as she is immune supressed. Wr've been taking precautions for years so not so unusual for us.pollyx

BadMemory I've been buying the annual PPC for many years and am always asked to show the certificate. We've been at the same pharmacy for over 30 years and they've been dealing with dd for over 30 years. I don't know if the fact there are two class 2 and one class 3 med among all the monthly meds means they need to be extra careful. When it was the small card I forgot to put it in my bag once and they were able to go on the system on cross check. They have to enter the new PPC details manually the first time it's used and can then refer to there if needed. As this is a renewal it wont show until they've put the new info in.I do have the reference no from my phone payment and the new PPC number so hopefully that will be ok. I agree the A4 paper certificate is a mistake. Along with the monthly meds there are other prescriptions rhrough the weeks for abs etc so although I keep it in a case the present one is quite tatty . I'm glad they stopped using the plastic card but a thick card version would have been a better idea than a sheet of paper. It's good the PPC exists. The meds I'll collect on Friday will be more than covered by a single payment of £104 so the rest of the 12 months are free. Single items will increase at the beginning of April and although they kept the PPC price frozen for the past few years that will increse too. Thanks to everyone for your comments. I don't want to monopolise this thread as Ss has her own challenges. I'll coninue to post as always but will put other stuff on my OS thread.Ss Have you noticed there is a new series of the Sewing Bee due? I hope you can get a chance to watch it in relative peace.Take care everyone.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Looking forward to seeing the sewing bee. Not sure when it is out but must be soon.
I have spent a lot of the afternoon in and out of the garden.
dgs2 didn't actually get to sleep today so he's gone to bed now.
couldnt keep him up any longer.
wonder how that will effect the morning?
dgs1 is still coughing and sneezing. DGD is on the sniffles and has a sore throat. She gets them a lot and it could be because yesterday and today I have been cutting the lawn.
I watered my seeds gently, and moved them out into the sun but now they are back in the shed.
I tidied up another pile of wood up to the middle section of the garden.
managed to hang out 3 loads of washing, but brought them in now.
I am looking at trying to do a menu plan for the month, but my brain is not coming up with ideas. So think I need to get some ideas on line.I managed to get dgd to do her science homework. Better than nothing but she's going to have to ramp it up.
dS FaceTime the boys this morning, and dropped off milk and yoghurt for me at the door.
My compost has arrived, so tomorrow I am going to try and master how to use DS's electric screwdriver and see if I can make a frame for plants out of the old bed boards. Bit out of my comfort zone but I want to try.
frugal boards for menu next then. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.6 -
I haven't seen a firm date for the new sewing bee series but it was intended to be early spring so hopefully not long to wait.I'm glad dgd did do her science homework. What subjects does she struggle with? There's a lot of help online to help you help her to an easier understanding by simplifying things to make them seem less complex.I'm still trying to get my brain to function clearly to plan things so you're not alone with menu plans and stuff. I'm so unused to having time to do things rather than all the appts etc it's taking time to slow down and think properly. Is it possible dgd may have sinusitis and or hayfever? Dd and I both have chronic sinusitis, hayfever and rhinitis. The last few weeks we've both had pain above our eyes a stuffed up or runny nose and sore throats.. I was focusing on Corona rather than something usual and it was only when I was passing the chemist on Monday that the penny dropped. The annual hayfever etc. I;d been sniffing the blossom and spring flowers while going round our almost deserted high st. I bought my usual Hayfever and allergy relief tablets and only two days later the symptoms are beginning to ease.I have to say you have a lot in common with me. I've always been a gardener and make do and mender. I love repurposing things. My 2 eldest dds used to share a large bedroom and they had a large heavy pine desk / dressing table with 3 deep drawers either side. It was over 7 feet long. When they moved out I wanted to keep it but give it a smaller footprint. After some thought I removed the top made a new top sightly wider than the side drawers and the hardest bit mounted the drawer units one above the other. It took me a while to figure out how to join them together without it being obvious. I used the router to mimic the original edging of the top on the cut edge. I'd already sanded it all so a few coats of undercoat and flat white paint finished it off. It already had the original chunky bun feet from one drawer side and takes up little space but still has the original 6 deep drawers and is very useful. You've reminded me there are 2 top quality solid wood bunk beds in the loft from when we got metal bedsteads. I'm sure they were intended for a garden project so I'll need to look through my books to remember.I hope the littlest doesn't wake too much after his nap.I've just remembered I've forgotten to check if Elaines blog is up yet. If they've managed to recover her previous posts there'll be lots of menu planning ideas.let's hope the sun keeps shining. Although it's strange not to have dd here there is a lot I can do to fill my time. I'm still undecided about whether to go ahead and make new curtains from the bolts of lovely linen or cotton fabric, part of me wants to but I still have one final move to a smaller more managable and disability friendly property in mind and that would need new curtains.I know you;ll be missing seeing Molly are you able to facetime with her? It would help both of you if you could .Well I haven't even started planning the garden so lots to think about.Best wishes to all here and sorry about the typos earlier. i did edit but more jumped out at me when I came back.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I'm afraid I am completely unpractical, don't sew, garden or DIY and am in awe of those of you who do. I love watching Sewing Bee though, so was glad to see that it will be on again soon.
My hayfever has also kicked off since the weather improved. I know that I react to tree pollen but, thankfully, not too badly later in the year. It's not difficult!
