S_s, I hope you are not terribly sore today after all the work in the garden yesterday (((hugs))).
I'm sorry that your son doesn't have any work now. This is going to be a real financial hit for a lot of people and I think many businesses will go underOH used to be a taxi driver, so we are very aware how difficult it will be for people who are self-employed, freelance, zero hours contracts etc. I'm just glad that I no longer work for the NHS!
It's not difficult!

Ss All schools and Colleges in this area are now due to go online and have other plans for those taking exams. I'm sorry to hear about ds losing his work. With so many being either laid off or some companies closing it's probably pretty impossible to find a job in a hurry. It seems best he spends his time working alongside you to tackle the daily tasks and care for his sons should nurseries and schools close. Preschool in this area are due to make an announcement re closure which will impact those parents and carers in employment. I'm not sure if he had a contract of employment but some funds may be available to those who qualify following todays government announcements.Hope all here are ok. I'm trying to figure out shopping before as a 71 year old I have to stay indoors from the end of this week. that's the downside to always shopping locally rather than online. However supplies aren't looking good for an online option and neither are delivery dates.Take care allpollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Today I booked the next available Tesco delivery slot - for 14th April! I'm lucky that OH usually shops and is happy to continue doing so. I guess I will have to use 'click and collect' if he becomes unable to get out. It's not difficult!

In my area a lot of the small business owners are offering online purchases etc, the butcher and baker are offering home delivery.
even the boutique is offering in line and deliver.
I believe that there is going to be a revolution with the way we live after this pandemic is done.
I still believe that what ever life throws at me, I believe in my ability to figure things out.
love to you all, keep safe.

Two lots of jobs cancelled. Or no shows.
its been a very strange day.One of the things that I will have to do is like most of us, revisit the budget and make sure that we can live off of the funds guaranteed coming in and not my earnings as they have Deminished to negligible at the moment.
If I get DS's support then I will try to be creative when I can, spend a bit more time on my book, and learn what ever I can.
I will be attempting to home school amongst the rest of the countryWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.6 -
Don't bank too much on DS' help ....he's not good a good track record up to now :-( But, knowing you, you will succeed despite all the pitfalls along the road.5

Just in case your son has missed it, a number of supermarkets including Aldi and Morrison's are recruiting staff. The Co-op have also just announced recruitment specifically for those who have lost jobs in the hospitality industry.7

Tesco are looking for staff and I've seen anecdotes that people have been advised to go to Asda with a passport/driving license for near immediate starts.
I'm sure stacking shelves is similarly methodical to serving drinks.8
