Hehe thanks! To be honest I've not really looked into it much, will watch some YouTube videos! Isn't there a whole thing about being able to turn right at lights even if they're red? :)

Mr Dontone loves driving over there. No roundabouts, speed humps, or speed cameras to worry about. There's loads of space and some roads you can see for miles in front of you.
I came across a roundabout going in to Miami. It was hilarious watching the Americans trying to work it out. Most didn't have a clue.

I find driving over there easy too. I've not driven in Vegas but in Florida speed limits seem to be advisory rather than true limits. Just take it easy until you get used to the car and being on the wrong side.

I have been caught speeding in Nevada so they weren’t advisory that day, apparently many get caught around the Searchlight area on way to Laughlin

something like $400 ( there are catergories on the back of the ticket),  I had to pay call the sheriffs office in Searchlight to pay, I called  after i got home  and the lady who took the call was shocked that it was so much, so said she would put it through as a parking ticket ,which reduced it to about $175.

I'd definitely save and go somewhere a little smarter, unless you're going with kids? Is it your first visit?

We didn't have a LAS trip planned for 2020 but always had something in mind for Easter 2021. With the money we'll save from 2020's cancelled holidays, we're thinking of doing a 3 week multicity US trip starting in NYC and ending in LAS with somewhere in between... Just haven't decided where :)
    Thank you.
We have been a few times before but it would have been our first stay in Excalibur. We are taking our children but they have also been before and would rather have a nice room. I think we have decided we will probably go back to Vdara as we've been there before but I still need to look at a couple of others.

We will be flying to LA first for a few nights there including Disneyland, then off to Big Bear lake for a few nights and onto Vegas for the second week.

Your 3 week trip sounds good though.

I'd love to go next year, but I don't think Mr Dontone is fussed. I keep mentioning all the great times we've had before, and he is one of those that is easily swayed by his stomach (Ellis Island, anyone?) So I'm working on it.
Also it's our 20th wedding anniversary next October too, so would like to go then.
Anyway, if you are rescheduling, then put the money towards a nicer place to stay. Apparently there is nothing much wrong with Excalibur from what I have read about the rooms, but it can be overrun with kids, and sometimes there is a rather funny smell to the casino.
Last time we went (2016) we stayed in the Venetian and managed to bag a lovely suite with a Strip view using the $20 trick. It's easily the nicest place we have stayed in.
Thank you. Will have a look into Venetian rooms.

You definitely need to work on Mr D. Ours would have been for our 15th Anniversary this year so will just have to celebrate our 16th instead.

As dontone said, Yosimite = amazing!
The spending money i saved up for the trip we should be on right now, i saved it, but since this lockdown stuff, i seem to have spent it, but no idea on what! :D:D:D

In a way, glad our trip was cancelled, as our 1st call from Weds last week till tues was Orlando....
Weather here in Gloucestershire vs Orlando =  We'd pick Gloucestershire!!!!!   Although due in Vegas on Tuesday, where it shows excessive heat warning (nice! :D  )

Our plan for Sep is, drive to Yos park from San Fran, drive the 120 to Mammoth...  Following day, drive from Mammoth Lakes to Laughlin, via a stop at Copper Top BBQ in Big Pine, and a photo from Dantes View in Death Valley, big drive, but between 3 people, do-able in 1 day!

kroberts - price difference between say the Lux, or a Caesars hotel mid strip vs Excal , would be small, and i'd say most would recommend you spend that extra £50 or so.....     Luxor is cheap, but thats where we stay (not bragging, but i can stay anywhere , in most suites for free, but i still pick the Luxor!)...   Luxor for us , hard to say what it is, just really like it there! :):)    and not too pricey either!
Haha we still have our spending money that we had saved (at the moment) so anything we save now will be a bonus.

Would love to stay in Yosemite for a future trip. We're staying in Big Bear this time around and then driving from there.

I always think Luxor looks quite dark and small. What room do you usually go for? I will take a look.

For our first few trips, Vdara was our go-to hotel too. We stayed there on our first Vegas trip, took a punt on it not long after it had opened. For us it's pretty much the perfect hotel BUT the pool area is disappointing compared to others we've since experienced.

The last couple of trips we've stayed at the Palazzo, and much prefer the selection of bigger pools there.

On our last visit we took a day out to Summerlin and Red Rock Casino Hotel... We really liked there and hope to stay there for at least part of our next trip. Yes, it's off Strip but now we've experienced Vegas I think we're happy to stay a little further away for something different... Can just get the shuttle bus to/from the Strip.

After much deliberating I have changed our Aug trip ( which was for my 60th)  to April next year, hopefully long enough away for things to return to some sort of normality.  Originally flying from Norwich  but now going premium Economy ( never done that before) from Heathrow with Virgin, for a few quid more than i originally paid
