So, we have already missed one trip to Vegas this year because of the virus.
We won’t be going on the October trip either, we have already decided.
Now, when things eventually get back to normal, we can’t even fly direct from Manchester anymore..bloody great.
Neither having to go all the way down to London to fly, nor getting a connection in LAX appeal.
Maybe I’ll change my mind when I haven’t had my usual Vegas fix for a long period of time. But at the moment, if I can’t go direct from somewhere in the north of England, I might have to look elsewhere for trips.
Anyone had any luck with refunds yet ? 59 days since we were supposed to fly, and still nothing from Virgin.I know they are quoting up to 90 days, but surely early cancellation should start filtering through.0 -

dontone said:nvh said:Some interesting detail (and speculation) here https://thepointsguy.co.uk/news/las-vegas-reopening-after-coronavirus/ on what Vegas 're-opened' could look like including:- Thermal cameras on entry to resorts- Slot machines spaced out, 3 player maximums per table- Shows running less frequently / cancellations- Self serve buffets ruled out in the medium term- More incentives from casino's to get us to go
They have been biting the hand that feeds them for far too long. Vegas used to be really cheap and you got lots for your money. Now you have to budget for at least and extra $500/$600 before you've even booked anything.
In regards to buffets, it's something that I couldn't care less about anyway, as I think they are a bit of a waste of money if you don't have the appetite. and the last one we visited - which was the Paris one, was terrible, as it was very limited on choice, and the beef they were serving up was more or less still alive. I'd much rather go to a food court. Sometimes you have to wonder how long the buffet meals have been stood about, and there is nothing worse than watching some numpty family allowing their brats to pick up things with their fingers, or licking the ice cream scoops.
Not sure about the shows, as anytime we have been to one, it's been more or less half empty in the arena. I suppose that this will apply to the really popular ones.
My main concern is the cost of the flights though. We are already being charged to the hilt as it is. I'm fully expecting those prices to go through the roof when a somewhat normal service is resumed.

That would seem to make sense as it is the 'locals' who drive to Vegas that will visit first - with no international flights on the horizon at the moment.
I wonder if that will be sufficient to fill the casinos or whether they will tempt us 'aliens' with some nice juicy offers?0 -
Well, I booked us the 2bedroom jobby in luxor for end of Sep....
Gonna remain positive, and plan our road trip as normal for end of Sep !(fingers crossed all the way)....
Bit gutted that me and the wifey not flying to miami next week (then onto vegas in June), but hey ho.........

Saw it on BBC News this morning and they were testing light shows ect at Freemont so looking more hopeful. We are not until November this year as we already had all our holidays booked (all now lost) but some friends got a great deal in Virgin Sale so we had a look out of interest and before we knew it had booked. Never been to a cold Vegas before LOLTotally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0

The nights are a bit chilly, but we got away with wearing a thin jacket and it wasn't too bad. It is nice to browse some of the shops as they have some lovely Christmas decorations that are quite unusual and you'd never see over here.
It's quite amusing walking through the casinos and seeing buckets on the floor though. You would think that a multi million dollar casino would build a decent roof that doesn't leak. The Venetian was terrible for it.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

MGM dumping parking fees. It’s a start 😆
Just so they didn't have to pay airport car parking fees.
I can understand why they started charging, but at the same time, they were making a lot of money with resort fees, so that's why I thought they were all being very greedy. $10 -$20 a day to park a car is nothing sort of extortion. Especially if you are staying for 2 weeks. And they wondered why visitor numbers were down.
They should do all they can to entice us back when we are allowed to visit again. No resort fees (or, if they must $10 a day maximum) no car parking fees, lots of treats when using the players club cards would go a long way to make it really worthwhile.
I still think the flights will be the big hitter though. I can see them charging for meals long haul and charging us to take any luggage on board. They will try and squeeze every penny out of us.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

I think there is some kind of legal obligation to feed us (can't find the article now) on flights over a certain time period. Flights may certainly increase in price if they have to reduce the seating capacity due to social distancing. - now lets get the airlines flying and offering sales!2

hi
dontone- ye that would be awesome if they would stop the stupid resort fees! i always get the inpression that most casinos (or anywhere) would charge you for breathing if they could!
honesMUFCforver- flight sales...that sounds like my kinda talk!.Based on previous years sales, anyone know when maybe airlines may be holding them this year for maybe next april/early may ? (might be a tad early for late april early may i feel)
I am currently working on going solo for the first time( family issues stoped me last time going so hoping things will work for me for next year)
kind regards2
