hi SI -spooky - you know I'm from a massively dysfunctional family - joke that i'm the white sheep. i know how easy it is to get into a 'it has to be perfect' frame of mind. i was gutted when i got preg at uni and felt like such a failure - but now i look at the tired, old faces picking their kids up from cobys school and i'm so glad i'm a young mum. but then i'm the one stood there drenched when its raining and they've driven up in their big cars, so its all swings and roundabout - nothing is ever perfect - such is life!

Seems we are similar in a lot of ways - funny how you find these things out.

I am feeling much better than earlier. Had a nice pamper bath and put a little bit of makeup and done hair etc. Feeling more human. A just called to say he's going to be a little late as stuck at hosp with prisoner......fun!

So glad it is Friday so I can have a nice lay in tomorrow and a chilled weekend. Hopefully a cheap one, although A did mention maybe going for a curry when he gets home. Not good for the old diet but it's a Friday night and like you said I need to stop being so strict on myself, maybe that is a reason why I seem to fail. Need to re-think it a little.

Right enough yapping from me.....off to chill on couch!

glad you're feeling abit better hon - honestly do a 5 year plan - I love em! just putting it all down on paper really helps. And you know, I found one I'd done a few years ago ( a 3 year plan lol) and I'd done pretty much everything on the list (apart from lose weight!:rotfl: ) I was surprised at this as I'd written it out and then not looked at it again but its funny how these things go in! I break my big goals ie 'job in tele' down into 'get work experience at X' etc and it really helps. Although my plan for the next five years is less specific and abit scary as it mainly involves being on baby duty -

    ie 2008 - get preg
    2009 - new baby
Between 2008 and 2012 (aaaaarrgh) keep plodding along with writing trying to get somewhere.
If not getting anywhere with writing by 2012 do science A levels to lead to -
    2014 - do midwifery degree/baby starts school
2017    Qualify as midwife
Between 2008 and 2017 keep saving till we can afford that dream house.
Now thats a 9 year plan  and by that time I'll be 34 - god that is sooooooooooo scary.

The midwifery thing still not sure about but seems like a good back up plan to me as there is the possibility to do part time (amongst other reasons), whereas in tv those opportunities are v few and far between. Obv, i'd rather be writing but  if I cant make a living from it then its not to be. So really, i could be re starting a whole new career at the age of 34 eeeek.

D and I are having a curry tomo night - little of what you fancy and all that. I dont like the creamy sauces anyway - its just the naan that gets me!

    Food today -

brekkie - 4 slices (them piddly small ones) wholemeal toast, butter.
    lunch - weight watchers soup
dinner - beef stew with dumplings, mash and veg
    snacks- 1 bar choc
drinks - 2 glass of wine - it is friiiiiidddddaaaaayyyyyy

    exercise - davina :T

    feeling good- I love weekends.

Wow Roxie - you're great at planning and doing. How do you do it??

I think sometimes I spend too much time thinking and not doing. I like the way that you break it down and I have no doubt that you will achieve it :-) You know what I did look into changing careers and working towards either nursing a little while back and have got the OU prospectus etc thinking I would do it around London but never got around to doing it. Same old thing with me - thought I will do this and that but I never actually do it and just set myself up for falls time and time again. How stupid am I.

I really think that I need to do something just for me and me only. Does that make sense? I have spent most of my life being good old K and worrying/helping others which has basically set me up for a fall.

For example - I opted to take a year out to save to go to uni - guess what didn't go! Fool! Instead I ended up supporting, paying for social life of long term boyfriend at time only for us to split up a year after he finished uni - I had debt, he didn't. I even helped him complete his application for entry to the Police and the ba#tard got in...I literally wrote the whole application out for him. All he had to do was write it on the actually form.

Then met the d#ck of all times (apologies for all the swearing - ex fiances) proposed etc life was great (so I thought) thankfully fate and god was on my side and my uncle who happens to be a taxi driver turned up to his bosses girlfriends house to pick up her daughter (sorry gets confusing) and out walks this girl with my fiance hand in hand!!!! Fiance turned rounds and walked back in the house as quick as he walked out. Anyway my Uncle as you can imagine was fuming and basically said to his bosses girlfriend that they are not welcome in his taxi and drove off. Needless to say girlfriend rung my uncles boss and then my uncle was called in 'why etc blah blah' - (can I just say that my fiance hadn't owned up to why a taxi driver wouldn't take them by this time either) - sorry get to the point. The conversation went like this....

    Uncle - 'It's personal'
    Boss - 'Not good enough'
Uncle ' Just out of interest how long have you know xxx (fiance)'
Boss - 'What xxx, he's been seeing (girl) for about 3/4 mths now'
Uncle ' Funny that, he's also engaged to my niece!'
    Boss - 'Fu**ing ba##rd!'

Can I just point out that we had only been engaged about 2 and a bit months at this point!!!!! Need I say any more. Also on top of that to deal with he owed me over £10K when we split and needless to say I have not got nearly enough back and I am now paying it all off myself.

Then there are the parents - don't get me wrong I helped them they are my parents but they owe me a good £10K between them and have not been regular or reliable.

Don't get me wrong all the decisions were mine and I have to take the blame for my mistakes but I am fed up of being 'good old K' and have had enough of that for now.

Gosh I have really ranted. I apologies, I must sound like an idiot.

I may be asking you advice again Roxie when I sit down to think about things. Do you mind if I run things by you?? It's always good to have a second opinion and I think we're similar in some respects. Plus you have a very sensible head on you - far more than I!!

hey - of course, run stuff by me! I'm definitely a planner and other peoples lives are fair games too :rotfl: I'd be defo happy to help in any way I can. Hey - its never too late to go to Uni and do exactly what you want in life! I've been, done a hnd in media which has basically been worth jack - (was going to go back and finish after i had cobes but as i was working in the industry figured theres no point, like a step backwards), but if things dont work out for me with my writing I'll be doing back at age 30  to do something completely different. Writing will always be my 'thing' and my first love but it has to be financially viable too. I may go back into tele but it just depends on the right opportunity coming up - am not prepared to work all hours and have to go on location all over the place - much as i enjoy it, its not worth the trade off of time with my kids.

My good friend is an inspiration to me with this, as she's had 2 kids, was a school dropout but recently started working towards a health and social care degree (much to the opposition of her hubby who wanted to keep her at home - sounds familiar!). Her hubby (barstard  ) wouldnt pay for it so she worked weekends in a factory to fund it herself - her confidence was rock bottom but she's been doing it barely 3 months and she's getting great grades and has been offered a social care job already! I think she's an inspiration and if she can do it, there's no excuse for anyone!

Decide what you want to do with your life and plan the steps you need to take to get there. The world is your oyster!

Oh, and what a beep your ex sounds. Tell you what thou - you had a lucky escape there. Imagine if you'd married him and he'd been carrying on. Or he'd been caught out 10 years down the line? Imagine if you'd had kids with him. What an idiot - i hope he gets what he deserves in life!

ps - have you talked to your parents about a proper repayment plan. You shouldnt be carrying the can for them, hon.

Chin up - the futures bright and whatever you want is there for the taking!

ps hi lilmissmup - nice to see you! Yep, I like to have a plan - whether it completely changes along the way is another matter but at least I've got plenty of time to think about stuff - the fact of it being a 9 year plan terrifies me thou - coby would be 14 - jeeeeez!!

    Weekends nearly over :-(

Feeling far better and much more positive. Have pulled myself out of it and been thinking a lot this weekend. Will update you when I have done a little more thinking about things.

Took a train trip down to Brighton to stay with my little sis this weekend. A was working and didn't feel like spending lots of time on my own. Sis and partner live in the Marina so it was perfect given the lovely weather! Had a good night out last night and ended up drinking far too much. Needless to say I have the hangover from hell and am in need of a decent nights sleep!

Thanks again Roxie for your kind words recently - I really do appreciate it and thank you for letting me rant like a numpty. You must think crazy girl!!!!!

Hope everyone has had lovely weekends :-) xxx
