awww come on dais - 4's not that bad is it? :p
it still took willpower to put them down! I used to b able to get through a whole packet :o:o:o I went off the booze for a bit and swapped wine for shortbread (the only biscuit I really like) and would much though tons of the stuff.

consider my hands slapped- I'm not snacking tonight to make up for it - and I promise, no shortbreads tomo! :D

My husband has started The Diet Doctor diet. Bought the books from ebay for a couple of quid each. It's the easiest eating plan ever. He started the week before Easter and has lost 19lb so far. No gimics, just plain old healthy eating. No processed foods at all. So easy to follow, basically eating equal amounts of carbs and protiens.

    example

Breakfast, bowl of branflakes with full fat milk
mid morning snack, 1 slice of wholemeal bread with chicken
    lunch, chicken, salad and cuscus
mid afternoon snack, two oakcakes with home made humus
evening meal, piece of steak with salad of celery, onion, tomato, beetroot and pepers and strawberries and grapes for pud.

    Love the diary. Keep motivated.

    Hi All

Especially to those who have posted more recently. Thanks for the joint encouragement 'Dithering Dad' - I think I shall need it although I am well motivated to achieve a good outcome if not the total target, and 'hello' to you back. As Roxie has said, that does seem a big goal on your behalf. Bravo! :T I hope you reach it. Now that would be a cause for mind over matter. Still, mortgages often come in the larger variety these days, lol.

I agree with Roxie, that the economy is not the best soil to be treading on right now. The economy is certainly in need of that 50bn pound injection (hope I've got that right!) that the Bank of England is going to inject into it to boost liquidity to assist businesses, individuals and importantly for Dithering Dad, the mortgage market. I can remember the negative equity of the 90's but let us hope our present economy will not stoop to that which I don't think it will although the present climate may get worse. Let's hear it for liquid assets right now, that's what I say!! Agree with Roxie again that it is wise to have the money where you can get hold of it but of course along with this 'priviledge' should come the proviso that one must exercise utmost restraint especially for the cause of us savers. :rotfl: But hey! birthdays, holidays and nights out, etc, are important. I like them.

In fact talking of birthdays, been buying a few bits for my friend's young daughter today. But did I fast leg it to the nearest John Lewis store. Oh no, I went straight to the British Heart Foundation (hope you are proud of me) and bought a pretty beaded bag (6 pounds and 99p) and two cups and saucers with elephant motifs (one pound and 75p). The fact I suddenly dropped and smashed one of the saucers on my doorstep today on my return (yes really!) is just an occupational hazard. Decided not to give this item to her as even the other saucer has slight chip. Am using an intact cup/saucer beside my computer right now. I'd grown quite attached to the elephant anyway! Also bought her a sterling silver charm bracelet from Argos (9 pounds and 99p) - Argos is very competitive to the other high street shops as far as jewellery is concerned, I have noticed. So all in all not too much expense by way of a birthday present.

Noticed one person on thread had found a pound coin on road - well I sometimes come across coins, usually of the copper variety. Come on gold coins, don't be shy - show yourselves next time I am out walking! lol

Hope you folks have had a good day - I certainly have as I am on holiday for a while now - so nice to have a rest and recharge to the system....

    Bye for now

Also started a diary too - I think that's a good idea :money: . I chose that icon, not that I thought it had much relevance, I just enjoy watching Martin's head going round and round. :rotfl:

hi dithering dad - oooh i love it when nice lurkers pop up - always suprises me that anyones reading!! :rotfl:

wow - £150K in 3 years?? how does that work then? I'd love to do it! Must admit, I've thought about making overpayments instead of saving - but the threat of market falls and negative equity has scared me off. I 'd rather have the money where I can get hold of it if needed. Although, it prob not the best way as I can and do get hold of it for holidays, birthdays, nights out etc etc :o

Hi Roxie. I started a business and it's doing so well that I managed to pay off all my debt (I used to be a DFW and then 'graduated' to the MFW board) and then started on the mortgage. I have a large income now, but we (the Dithers) live like we used to, pre-business. This means we have a lot of free cash to throw at the mortgage. I haven't a hope to get the full £150k paid off now (wife left work to take care of daughter, plus some other unplanned things cropped up - as they tend to do!) but to be honest, andy reduction is fine by me.

If you're scared of negative equity, then the best thing you can do is to pay down your mortgage. When I started my MFi3 (Mortgage Free in 3 yrs) quest, I owned 40% of my house and the bank 60%. I'm now 50/50 with the bank, which means my house will have to halve in value before I am in negative equity territory.

I also made sure that I could get the money back if I needed it, and have a flexible offset mortgage. I'm a real spendthrift, so having my cash in a difficult-ish to get at place is a real bonus for my finances!! :)

It is worrying with all the talk of recession and such - definitely a time to be salting away as much money away as you can!

OMG my thread suddenly got active - normally its just me and SI rattling around when we should be working :rotfl:

    hi everyone :D

dithering dad - whoop - well done with the business. it must be really nice to have a good financial future ahead of you. Its brilliant what you are doing with your mortgage! I may look into it abit more, as if a set amount goes out each month with the mortgage, I cant spend it then can I??

hi paula - good on your hubby!! is he missing 'treats' or has he got used to not having choc/cake/beer whatever his vice was?

i caved yesterday and ate a bit of chocolate : ( rubbish. But hey, I must be doing something right as i'm now closer to eleven stone, than twelve (a pound under) so have lost a couple of pounds, so must be doing something right! eleven stone is my immediate target - am gonna do it in 2 weeks :j

I'm all by myself today as todd is playing at a friends. Gonna get some work done and do the davina I think! the house is so quiet, its wierd!!

coby starts his swimming lessons today - bless him.

oh, and dales doing my head in  After the few 'online' incidents we've had - ie him getting into trouble for things that he;s written on his myspace/facebooks - he's changed all his passwords and even yesterday closed down a screen when i brought him a cup of tea over. v annoyed . he says its cos i misconstrue what he's saying and its to save arguments, but why be so secretive -if there was nothing to hide then why hide it? doesnt make sense to me? I know I should just blind trust him, and in honesty, I did before I found out that he's lied to me repeatedly before about having a lapdance. now my minds working overdrive thinking, whats he hiding??

    Massively gutted!
Just found out that my group that I did tv training with are making a film that will be on tele and premiered at BAFTA - but I was left out because I'm not in London and you have to work in groups on each others films. Am massively gutted about this. So gutted. Thats my dream and they've had it handed to them on a plate and the only reason I'm not doing it is because I have my family in derby. its soooo !!!!!!. me and d had this discussion when i was working in london and he made it clear theres no way he's ever move there, or even closer to there (hes a northern boy!) so what could I do? I couldn't bear having to work away from my kids all the time. But I'm missing out on the opportunities that I dream about, and this could easily have been mine. I mean, not being funny, but I know that I was the best writer in our group and the best for ideas. !!!! !!!! !!!! !!!! !!!!ERS
!!!!ing premiere at BAFTA - honestly I'm sat in tears over this. Its what I want so bad and nothing happening for me.
