I understand this is only available at branch, as there are none in Kent is anyone able to advise an alternative. Looking to save £200 per month.

    Many thanks

Depends where in Kent you are but if its North West you might want to start a relationship with the Brentwood branch of Saffron Walden BS if you want a 3.5% Reg Saver
  • Hi

Trying to make online payment to virgin branch regular saver from Santander but it doesn't like the dash in my account number for the payment ref. I'm sure when I opened it they said the dash had to be included.

    Any advise please.

They confirmed my interpretation on live chat. I sent my form last week, so waiting on the outcome.
Information I was given on live chat from Saffron BS was incorrect. Membership = having £100 in a savings account for 12 months (or having a mortgage with the society).

My cheque and application form was returned.

I very much doubt if you have one, unless you find the southernmost branch to which you are prepared to travel.

For someone in Kent that is as you say the nearest branch - just off the M25 and then a short drive. Once you join at a branch you can deal with them by post thereafter when your account matures. I originally joined via their Stratford branch but they shut that a couple of years ago.

They also do good regular saver isa but thats only normally open for the first week or two of the tax year. The one they launched last April paid 3% and allowed you to pay in (a maximum of) £1270 a month - hopefully they will do a similar one next April.

They have a large Sainsburys near the Brentwood branch where you can park your car and they have a nice cafe. So you can make a day of it (or a night as there is a nightclub there too - its TOWIE country)!

SS2 - the Principality Issue 17 entry could do with updating to reflect monthly payments can be missed:

You are not obliged to pay into your bond every month. Multiple monthly deposits can be made, as long as you don't exceed the maximum monthly deposit of £500.

    Indeed they do ;)
