Check out the store finder: http://uk.virginmoney.com/store-finder/

Once you've found the store, click View Store Details --> Store facilities. Some have "cash handling" as a facility. Make sure you also get your free tea/coffee, if your store offers this!

My experience suggests the "cashless stores" don't have any cahier counters. They just have desks and private rooms (similar to being in an estate agency).

Thanks glider. My store is definitely cashless. Also, unfortunately for me, I don't drink either tea or coffee!

My local Store is a modest size but they accepted cash (I had the cash ready but forgot my cheque book which would have been a nuisance). I would take both - as you may have decided.

    Thanks for your reply.

I've replied to all comments in reverse order, sorry for this being out of sequence.

I should have stated in my original post that I knew my store was cashless.

I notice the Saffron BS Issue 3 has changed the wording regarding opening by post (https://www.saffronbs.co.uk/savings/display.product/?category=general&productID=g2).

It previously said existing members had to have held an account with >£100 for at least a year. I guess online accounts confer membership rights?

Unfortunately not. They still require you to be a member by having a mortgage, or savings of over £100 for 12 months. The words 'existing customer' should say 'existing member'.

They confirmed my interpretation on live chat. I sent my form last week, so waiting on the outcome.

Wow. It was live chat that told me the opposite this morning.

Last call for Nottingham RS Issue 2 and SportsAid saver, as I've been told they will close on 4 Jan. Similar products at 1.4 and 2.5% will be launched the day after.

You will be able to have all the issues and still pay into the old ones.

For people who open lots of new accounts do you always have to provide certified documents and if you don't know anyone who can certify them is there a way of getting them done for free? I was just about to open a 3% Tesco account but it almost feels pointless when it's going to take three months just to recoup the cost of having documents certified at the post office.

I've never been asked for certification for new accounts, currently at thirteen current accounts and six regular savers.

Whether i'm representative I have no way of knowing.
