  • Doctors was a pointless exercise, I was late, couldn't see my doctor. I say my doctor - only seen him once but I did like him. Had to see another doctor, and he turned out to be young, handsome, and had a trainee doctor with him. And I thought do you know what, I don't need to sit here and explain what a failure I am and how utterly !!!!!! I feel to someone who is the epitome of success and looks like he has come straight out of a Rom Com. So yeah. Shall struggle on with work next week and carry on regardless.

Honey - I think I have seen that website at school. I shall investigate. What made things better for you?

Yes. I mean it isn't their fault but I am not good with going to the doctors at the best of times and I just couldn't sit there and pour my heart out to Mr Perfect and his eager sidekick. I had done the test thing the previous doctor gave me - didn't realise the answers were on the back (!) You remember doing those quizzes? so many A's etc? Well it was like that. I am on the cusp of being seriously depressed and anxious. I think realistically taking time off isn't going to work for me. I like teaching quite a lot. and it would just lead to a crappy attendance reference and I want a new job.

so I am going to do some searching and thinking. Make a plan to get better.

I am sure I will get used to it but 10 plus years on the same forum I feel like I am somewhere else!!

I ended up at OCcupational Health who were very reassuring. They could see that I was juggling a lot and was dealing with grief on top. They recommended counselling but work refused it as it was deemed too expensive. I even offered to pay half but it still wasn’t sorted out. In the end I cut back to 3 days a week. It’s tough losing income but the pressure has eased somewhat.  I don’t have the “work dreads” that I did every weekend, to the point I felt ill. Now I am stricter with what I plan and mark and try not to let work overshadow my home time. Making sure I haven time to be outside and walk as often as possible has also helped tremendously.

  • hello folks,
I don't think I will be around for a while, my friend committed suicide at the weekend and I am reeling from it all. I hadn't heard from her for a while and neither had anyone else. So I phoned the police. And they found her. I am currently listed as her next of kin and had phone calls from the coroner, the police and the RSPCA. I am shell shocked. It is surreal. I don't understand any of it at all.
