Hello Everyone,
I have now been out of debt for 5 months due mainly to a tax rebate and some PPI money plus me actually using a budget especially for Christmas and the summer AND sticking to it for the first time ever.
Life itself is very unpredictable here so I don't want to set out a grand plan and have it fall apart due to circumstances beyond my control. I am doing six months at a time at the moment. My main goals for the year are 10,000 in savings for a deposit(plus 5400 in the help to buy), have a partner, and be organised with a house that welcomes guests.
for the first six months I am aiming to,
1. 5000 in savings (for the deposit, separate to the other savings - a tall order but I do have to get serious now)
2. A completely tidy house with a usable shed, all rooms with a purpose, all de-cluttered and organised.
3. Weigh 160 pounds
4. A holiday planned.
5. Spent at least 6 nights away from home.
6. Gone on 3 dates. Minimum.
7. Run the 10 KM (Well walked it! but done it!)
I am trying to work out how best to do the savings.. but now I need to go do things re house!
I really wouldn't be here with my friends here so thank you all very much for your love and support, it has been crucial.
Love Buffy XX

thank you SA, Beanie and Dancing in the Rain XX
I have sat and wrestled with my savings. Don't get me wrong it is a good feeling. Weird feeling. I am frightened something will happen or need fixing that means all this will go away. Ugh. or I will be stupid and just buy something dumb.
Monthly payments.
Emergency - 100
Christmas - 100
Vets, Car, Insurance - 200
H2B- 200
Magic extra savings account - 100
Extra deposit - 100 (but all extras go there with the aim of getting to 5000 by July 1st, very optimistic but so long as it keeps going up that is good, it all helps)
I am going to close my other savings account (The one that got me out of trouble for the car) and put that in my emergency fund.
I will say to anyone reading this, I found it easier to split the money up into separate accounts at first, when you add them together it makes quite a lot and definitely definitely have accounts you forget about to begin with, that other magic account, I used to pay 25 to, then 50, then later a 100. slowly slowly form the habit. And save before you get out of debt, other wise every emergency is a debt.
I am tired. Good night XXXXXNevertheless she persisted.3 -
Great goals for the new year. I overthink too and worry that if I put money in savings and I need it the world will end. No advice, just understanding, if you work out how to stop the mental chatter feel free to share!
Btw, last year one of my 12 goals for the year was to go on at least 3 dates and I met the most amazing man, I hope you have the same luck, or at least lots of fun getting there.1 -

OhmyGodIamsotired.
I have been quite unwell in the tummy department for the last few days and so not been around/ in typing mood.
So far in 2020 I have bought petrol, biscuits and milk. No CLUTTER. I have returned various items to Amazon. Must become a more discerning consumer!
I have seen my friends (despite being unwell, just didn't eat!) which has been so lovely I can't put it into words, they are two of three of my best friends in all the world and just knowing they exist and love me and I them is brilliant.
That aside not much is happening here.
As I have said a MILLION times before the house is my biggest problem. Today i am going to dedicate 3 hours to the shed/garden/animals and then come in for a nap(my reward)
See you all later XXNevertheless she persisted.2 -
Two trips to the tip. Took a bit longer but I got rid a fair bit so very pleased.
Me now having tea and biscuits. First food I haven't been afraid of for about 4 days!
Next up is the rabbits.Nevertheless she persisted.2 -
Hope you're not eating the rabbits :rotfl:
Well done on the productive day despite not feeling great.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
