  • I watched some TV with mum, had a nap, moved the furniture round in my room, Genuinely nearly died in the process as almost trapped myself under my desk and would have been crushed to death under my pile of crap. So that was today's near death experience!!

I felt well strange at one point so tided away the crap and came back downstairs. I think I might still be ill.

Watching Enemy Within on Sky. Quite good but am clearly an emotional wreck as keep nearly crying when someone dies.

Going to make a cup of tea? Or a drink of some sort.

  • My room is in a TERRIBLE state. TERRIBLE. Am so ashamed.

Everything is a mess. And after ten hours at work I just can't in the evenings. too much work, too much pet care and I need daylight. The poor guinea pigs. Don't get me wrong, they aren't neglected. But they aren't getting the top notch care they should.

I have grown to truly hate the Kondo system. It is hugely overwhelming to do alone for no apparent reason!

This week is as ever busy and the weekend involves a birthday party - lovely but I am the only single, childless woman going and am so tired of it. I have done every party, wedding, birthday etc by myself for years. And it is tiresome. Sorry, I know I should assert my independence and no doubt I shall and given that two good friends will be there it will probably be a good night. However given the lack of progress on the house, it being in a WORSE state than it ever has been
I just feel so down about it. such an utter failure. ugh. I think this is mostly triggered by being ill. makes me feel horribly vulnerable.

I am so privileged and it feels like I waste it.

Ugh enough self examination !!!!!!!!. Must eat.

Don't do the Kondo system if it makes you so stressed. Find your own system that works for you. If you think the party will be enjoyable then go, so what if you're the only single there.

I'm sure your house isn't as bad as you think it is.

*warning - ponciest thing I have ever written ever*

There is a bit in Macbeth where he says something like we are so stepped in blood it is the same to go forward as to go back.

Kondo worked for me for clothes, for DVDs, for CDs, for school stuff, it is the odds and sods of my life, the pet things, the ornaments, brick-a-brac, the hobbies, the tools (seriously, I have screws for EVERYTHING) it is constantly having to sort things for recycling, donation, getting to a charity shop, I have been doing this FOR EVER now. I am trying to get rid before I organise but in a house with no room (because there is so much stuff! Oh the Irony!)

I have (as you all know) decluttered before(boring), normally with some success. I started Kondo WAY back, before my BIL was ill and has just been on my list of things to do for what seems like forever. It never goes away and I haven't had a fully functioning bedroom for all that time.

I get that it works if frankly you either don't have a lot of stuff or have stacks of time and energy to do it or I suspect a big reason, like your partner leaving you because of your nightmare house, but it was something I started on a whim, which worked for a bit and I do get the logic. But if like most people in life you have a lot to do it is a nightmare. A first world nightmare obviously! but you get the idea. It has never been this bad. And I am so far into it I can't go back. Aside from the living room and the kitchen all the other rooms are unusable. It is very frustrating.

  • I think I am going to find some inspiration re Kondo, and try to make the process work. I feel like this is very much some kind of struggle, like the debt? A thing I need to work through.

    I am pretty miserable ;)

But ok. It will be another struggle of a week. But it isn't like I haven't had them before. I will get through this.

  • Hey up,

just popped on to say, I have bought my car insurance and paid for it with my savings.

Just for fun I added up alllll my savings pots.

    I am worth 6812 pounds.

I have 3000 in the house ISA, plus 500 extra saved in another account.

and the rest is saved for pet and car insurance and vets, 1600, 900 saved in the magic account and the rest is what I have left this month and in my mini emergency fund. So I am quite happy with that. I really recommend putting small amounts of money away. It has sort of happened by accident. And it has helped after another crappy day at work.

I need to pay for Amazon and Office in Feb, I am debating to cancel audible...opinions??

  • Hope your working week improves Buffy.

I sympathise on the decluttering...I made a space on Saturday, gone by Monday, covered in another cascade of laundry !
