My mil lived with my sil. They had so many arguments about food and sil got her knickers in a twist about how little mil was eating then mil got wound up and couldn’t eat. Viscous circle.........When mil came here I gave her a tiny bit and she’d eat it rather than being overfaced with plateful. I always asked if she wanted more and she usually said yes.....sometimes back for 3rds. It’s was easy for me to say and do this because I wasn’t there all the time, and not as emotionally involved. I think food is very emotive and some older people remind me of young children with what they’ll eat and not eat. Tough for you to deal with .
It feels like such a massive responsibility and it is so weird, this person sitting in front of you has been at the centre of life or centre adjacent forever. Trying to match up the woman who refuses all rational help with your mum who was always entirely sensible about such things is really hard to put together.
Anyhow. She got her done - hairdresser came in and she felt a lot better. Was meant to take her to the dentist today, but came in the door early from work and was totally fine, didn't feel sick or anything just thought I needed the loo and in the next five minute was throwing up like none's business. it was horrible. Honestly wrecked me for a couple of hours. I need to do my walk. UGH.

  • Hope you're feeling better today Buffy.

They do say that being old is like being a child again.  Not helpful I know but probably why it's happening.

Really hope you manage to get some respite soon.  How is bunny?

I struggled through work yesterday, scared my colleagues, took a covid test, it was negative but decided to stay home today as woke up sweating and shaking!! Feel better now, it took me two hours to sort work and then went to bed for a few hours.
I feel ok, definitely couldn't have taught, my throat is killing me and I will go back to bed in a bit.
Update more later, I have 12 days till pay day and a CC bill of 172.

Are teachers not on the same 48 hour quarantine after V&D as students? I'd hoped your illness on Tuesday was going to mean some enforced R&R before today!

I think possibly we are but I just couldn't miss work, well I did in the end but I was much more ill this morning than I have been in ages.
It is a funny thing, I like teaching but working in a school is pure hell at the moment. Two weeks till half term.

  • Just worked out I have two more "tests" to do with one class and one more with the other one. The stress is unreal.

  • Ok VERY glad today is over and it is the weekend.
Tonight, due to vaccine tomorrow I have cleaned out all the animals, changed my sheets, been to the chemist, chippy (!), done my walk, feed everyone and cleaned the kitchen. Washing is on and I am feeling pretty ok. Going to watch some of my TV with a sneaky Pimms.
    I have food delivery at 12 - 1.
Then it is either pass out due to vaccine or do one of the rooms in the house. XX

  • Apparently I didn't book the vaccine, I needed a reference number from the website... Thing is I am seriously needle phobic and booking it was hard enough. I had it worked out and hadn't told anyone anything. I could have been a walk in but I couldn't cope with the unknown waiting time.
Am a bit stuck now as have to do it all again. Got a horrible headache from the worry and the fact that there is no privacy in this house. Shopping due soon and then I will definitely have a nap. So annoyed with myself.

Got loads of washing to do. XXX

Ok, so in terms of getting things done I have managed. To be honest I feel quite ill. Napped for two hours made lunch without thinking about it and ate it too quickly. I did most of the housework this morning so don't feel too guilty about wasting my afternoon.
Checked my account. I owe 165 on the CC but finally have over 10,000 in savings. Am ok to pay the CC on pay day in ten days time and have only one lot of petrol money left!
Things are tight but ok. X

You don't see the needle and I've not felt it either time I've had the jab.  They are so busy checking you are who you say you are that it's done and over with before you have chance to think.

I had every side effect going first time round and spent 3 days in bed (unheard of for me) but my immune system always goes a bit over dramatic on me but the last one, just the chills a few hours after, took some paracetamol and felt fine within the hour.

The whole experience of going in, giving my details, getting jabbed and walking out took less than 7minutes each time.
