Well done for having the difficult conversation. Can’t have been easy.

I think with the pay thing once I switch to a btl and thus keep my wage (living down here) it won't be a problem. It is tricky to know as now schools don't have to stick to the old pay scales but some do as they can't get the teachers. I sort of doubt by the time I move up there I will still be teaching. My intention is to over pay..... from what I have been reading I may have to pay more to switch the mortgage so would need to save to do that. It is all a lot of unknowns.
In an ideal world, I would hope to move up there with a low mortgage amount to pay off (like Beanie did) and then just enjoy looking at the hills and the sea !
In other news I wrote myself one of those e mails to the future which I love doing. I am quite hard on myself in them. Useless men are a recurring feature as is decluttering and losing weight - even tho I don't say much about it in real life and don't especially think I look awful from that perspective more my grey hair that bothers me! I think the health thing worries me. Anyhow it was interesting what came out.
I do sometimes think I have blown my life up into pieces but I don't know, it isn't so bad. Hard at the moment. But won't be hard forever right?
I am working today which is annoying. Meeting my friend at 12. best get a shift on. XXX
thank you for being here people XXXXNevertheless she persisted.4 -

Have you looked into advice on what happens if your Mum goes into a home? How much time will you have to move out? Can you get some paperwork drawn up that shows you've been paying rent/bills and therefore have rights to stay?
Worrying time for you.
I don't have any rights, saddos who never moved out have no protection! (technically I did leave once, I just came back!)
It has been a really tough day today. Third weekend in a row without any contact from !!!!!!. It is so painful to think he never really cared. I was probably just convenient. Actually horrible when I think of our plans. Was he ever for real? I tried so hard to protect myself. Never works. Heart now smushed up.
Trying to be positive, I joined a dating website. wow. There have been a lot of divorces during lockdown............Poor men.
And in more serious news I told mum of my up north plan and that necessitated a conversation about care and what the future might hold. That was really hard. Can't say I really want to talk about it.
I have found my password book and so am going to look at my other savings account. Oh I shut down a p2p account so have 217 coming to me.

Buffy, just a thing to flag about buying if you can't immediately rent or live there - check the occupancy requirements for the mortgage and insurance. I had a major headache getting my house insured when I was living away for longer than 30 days (not helped by being given wrong advice the first time I asked my original insurer). Worth knowing in advance if you need to build in weekend visits or find another solution.

Something else to think about.
I suppose I could allow a mate to stay there free of charge... All gets a bit complicated.Nevertheless she persisted.1 -
I am watching Line of Duty again.
I need to get up for work in 6 and a half hours.
Week is going well! LOL.
Rosa - thanks for you help xx also been reading loads of boring stuff about mortgages.
Funny to think it could ACTUALLY happen.Nevertheless she persisted.1 -
Is there any particular reason you'd buy up north and not move straight away? (As soon as you could get a job obvs). If the plan was to convert it to a buy to let and rent it out after a year then what happens if you need to move there if your Mum goes into care? You'd have tenants and have to give notice and if they don't leave then eviction issues which can take years.
If you let someone else live there, even free of charge they'd need some assurance you'd not turf them out if you suddenly needed to live there yourself and I'm sure subletting clauses would kick in on insurance etc.All sounds a bit faffy when you could in theory just buy a house up there, find a suitable job and go. You'd be getting on with the rest of your life rather than putting it on hold again.Or you could just rent somewhere near to where you are now so you still be there for your Mum if she goes into care and just get on with the rest of your life.
Buying property isn't always the way forwards.

I suppose I could allow a mate to stay there free of charge... All gets a bit complicated.I didn't either! - my original insurer told me it was fine so long as I was present in the house across midnight every 30 days. Then when I called about something else had a fit and said that wasn't the purpose of the insurance and being routinely away meant a specialist insurer, who still insisted that somebody accessed the house every 14 days. Utter and absolute PITA and if I'd known to begin with would probably have changed my plans. So I'd rather you didn't have to find out as a surprise either!I'm sure there's a way round it, but it may need planning in. Eg if you buy near your friend, you could go up once a month or a fortnight as needed. And a good way to explore the area for job hunting and longer term?
