I forgot to say there's a syn of cornflour in my casserole. On the plus side, I added diced carrot and leeks so Speed on the up! :D

  • Hello,

My plan for the day is pretty much the same as yesterday:
    B - Banana
D - Couscous with roast chicken pieces and veg (aubergine, courgette, carrots, cherry tomatoes, onion and mushrooms)
T - 2CC ham and pineapple pasta bake*, with crispy kale on the side
HEA - Milk, cheese on pasta bake
    HEB - Almonds
    Syns - Sugar in coffee (3), cheese (1), hot chocolate (2) = 6

*I worked out that the pasta bake equates to 1 x HEA plus 1 syn per portion (if you don't drink a lot of milk it would be within the 2 HEA allowance), but although it's filling and (otherwise) free, there's no speed in it other than the passata, which is very overpowering. It's quite expensive as well when you factor in all the pineapple, bacon, ham and cheese. Ah well we have to try these things.

I've just realised that technically the cooked pineapple should be synned but I honestly eat cooked fruit about once every six months so not going to bother :o

Not sure how much Speed is in your stew but I'm assuming it's Speed you need to shop for. :)

Stew was lean diced beef, onions, garlic, carrots, swede, mushrooms, herbs and beef stock pot. Added a little cornflour to thicken, didnt think about synning that before. Thank you x

Thanks for the feedback on the pasta bake Tete. Not really my sort of thing - I'm not actually very keen on pasta at all if I'm honest. It's one of those things that we have now and again, perhaps once or twice a month. Would much rather have rice or potatoes for carbs.

    Today's plan:

    B - boiled eggs & soldiers - HEB + P
L - jacket potato, cottage cheese, salad - F; P; S (good half plate of salad)
    D - pork chop, mash, cabbage, peas, green beans - P; F; S

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - none (didn't even have spread on the bread!)

That's plenty of Speed MrsButler.:) Next to planning, I think Speed is essential for success with SW.:)

Arla BoB milk is 300 mls for a HEA if anyone likes using a lot of milk. Although it's on offer at the little Co-op at the moment, it's still very expensive compared to semi skimmed. I used to buy it regularly until it shot up in price (from £1.20 to £1.80 in a matter of a couple of months:(which I thought was a rip off) but since we're allowed a second HEA I'm not that fussed although it genuinely does taste like semi skimmed but with 1% fat.

I gave up on spread when I started SW, don't think it's worth the syns:). Almost all my bread is toast but even with a rare sandwich, by the time you've added the filling you wouldn't know. I think the toast lasts longer dry (as in takes longer to eat) too as it's not softened.

I'm out this evening to a meeting followed by a 'luxury' buffet. Last time I was a bit disappointed as while there's a good choice, the things that were most SW friendly were a bit scarce. I should be able to have salmon with salad but who knows. so many places are padding out buffets with bread and pastry things to cut costs.

After eating out twice (3 this evening) since WI I've rather given up on being accurate with syns this week. I'm not going to WI this week anyway and next week looks much more controllable.:)

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, half banana, skinny syrup (F), HEB porage, HEA milk
L: Veggie omelette (P,S), ham, cottage cheese (P, beetroot (S)
    D: buffet
    Syns: tbc
  • Pleased to report a loss after WI today of 2.5lbs :D. So am on track to get my 6st award (from 17 Dec) back next week. Scary how quickly I can pile it on when I take my eye off the ball ;).

Anyway, am in a good place, OH still away, but am not buying rubbish, so am eating all the right things. DS coming home for a night so got him some croissants, but am not interested in those. Got some salmon fillets for dinner, will do lots of roast veg to go with mine, DS might want rice as well. Think I am doing SP most days, I tend not to eat pasta/rice/potatoes when on my own. And still writing everything down, this really helps to keep track of syns.

Tried the new Honeycomb hifi bar today, I like it! My consultant kept on about how it was nothing like a crunchie as to not get people’s hopes up. I don’t think I have ever had a crunchie :D. But the bar is nice and chocolately and good for a sweet craving.

Had a quick peek at the new A-Z recipe book coming out on the 9th Feb. It looks nice with 60-odd recipes. Not sure if I will go for it. I have a lot of the SW books and a stack of the magazines with recipes. I don’t really need more so it would not be very :money:. Will have a little think over next couple of weeks.

    Poundsinbucks x :)

  • Well, not sure about this week, have to weigh a day early as not around on Thursday evening. Had planned on having a full of speed fry up this evening but discovered that the chicken that was in the fridge should have been eaten by 25th, I thought it was 30th, so had that with baked beans & a wholemeal roll. Very unhappy with myself, just need to get back on the horse properly, although I am meeting a friend for dinner tomorrow
