Morning All
Thank you Izadora, we do have lots of lovely customers, I think they are being the sensible ones and staying at home! Hope your dh is feeling much better, and it sounds like you took every precaution possible with your dp's xx
Well done on the losses Blue Doggy, Izadora, and Frith.
Well Boris' announcement not unexpected at all, however looking at the photos of the tube today, they are still ram packed. I think the problem is they have reduced the train/tube services but key people still have to get to work, bit of a vicious circle. Dh and I are classed as key workers so shall still be going in to work, we both commute by train so will have to hope our line is not 2 busy but they a have reduced our trains from 4 and hour to 2 so we shall see.
Hugs to all those who need the , I think it's only natural to feel wobbly in these unpredictable times xx

Sirens I hope your travel to work isn't too hideous and that people are having the sense to stay home wherever possible rather than coming in to you.
Slightly odd question, can you freeze coffee and walnut cake? In a most odd turn of events, rather than making me eat everything in sight the fact that I'm panicking has completely killed my appetite and I'd rather the cake didn't go off before it returns.6 -
Izadora you can freeze most cakes but yes to coffee and walnut. I usually work in a cafe and we batch make some cakes and freeze them so we can have a full selection available most of the time.
No run for the HT and I this morning. He thinks he's having a rest day but I had a migraine last night so I'm taking it easy today.
Take care all of you

Thanks Cranky, I'll get the cake in the freezer now. Seeing as I can't leave the house for 14 days, even for shopping, (I'm pretty sure that was the recommendation if someone you live with shows symptoms) I'd best freeze everything that it's humanly possible to freeze and that will fit in the freezer.
I hope the migraine's gone and you feel better now.7 -
Food supplies noticeably running down. It’s a a 25 mile round trip to Sainsbury’s so we’ll plod on as long as possible...
B - half an avocado and a sardine
L - HM soup from the freezer. Nettle for son1, leek and potato for son 2, veg for me!
T - will be HM vegeburgers and PSB (off the allotment). Then damsons from the freezer with custard for sons.7 -
Thanks Izadora I feel better today then I did last night
you're right in that if someone else in the house has symptoms you have to SI for 14 days, I hope your DH is feeling better today. If it's not too late I would freeze the cake in slices, better for the diet that way
FYI i didn't learn to drive until I was 39 and determined to do it before i hit 40. A colleague gave me the details of a instructor who had taught his wife who was the same age as me, he was sold to me a someone who was 'great dealing with more mature ladies'
he was almost at retirement age and ex merchant navy and had the patience of a saint, it wasn't a quick process but he got me through 1st time. BTW i still hate driving but manage my 25 mile return trip to work which i would take 2 trains if i didn't drive
Sirens I hope you're journeys haven't been too bad today, as a non key worker I appreciate you and your husband for carrying on working
My lovely garage serviced and more to the point MOT my car first thing this morning only because they already had it and I had a newer model of one of theirs, they knew it was my only means of getting about and they closed the dealership and garage when i collected as everyone else had been cancelled. He apologised that it hadn't had the free valet and wash and to take it back up when they were opened for it, I was just really relied it had been MOT. My neighbours' daughter wasn't so lucky when she got to her garage this morning it was closed. I have sent a thank you email to the manager
I was lucky in popping into the local small co-op and T Express on the way back and was able to get milk and bread for me and a selection of vegetables for myself and a elderly friend to split so we each have a variety, they were left on her doorstep.

L - HM Minestone soup with some crusty bread
D - pork chop with green veg
S- 4 finger kitkat

Oh I've just realised my MOT is booked in for Friday, I best ring them tomorrow and see if they're still open, my tax expires end of the month. Luckily I do not rely on my car for work as there is no parking and traffic is awful so if it has to wait so be it, I guess I'll have to contact dvla to see if I can renew my tax if the mot is delayed? I did learn to drive in my 20's but have always dreaded getting in the car, I only relied on it when the children were young, it's really on there for 'just in case' now but I am not a good driver and very nervous, living in a big busy city probably hasn't helped! However I can appreciate that it can be a life line to those further out, and my mum, who is in her 70's sees it as her independence to go wherever she need whenever, she also learnt later in life, I think she was in her mid 40's'You have brains in your head. Sirens I think mine had to close as it's the dealership and they have to close, I'm not sure about my neighbours' daughter. They said earlier on BBC that MOT centres should be open still and there is currently no amendments to current regulations if you can't get it doneLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin6

Thanks Brambling mine is a little independent garage, I'm sure if they can they'll stay open else I don't expect they get paid, I'll call them in the morning, as I said luckily I don't rely on the car so I can do without it for few weeks if I need to x'You have brains in your head. Good evening everyone
I hope you and your loved ones are all well. Reading the previous posts it looks as though isolation could be good for our weight loss, what with Izadora’s frozen cake 🍰 and Frith’s short commons 🍽. Even Brambling with next-door’s kitten as personal trainer 😸.
Best wishes to Sirens for the journeys to work and home, I hope they won’t be too horrendous.
Cranky I hope your migraine went away and you will be able to get back to your runs.
I’m reviewing my meal plans to eke out my supplies in case this isolation goes on longer than at first stated, and to reduce shopping trips.
Today’s food (pretty much the same as Sunday’s, avoids waste when there’s only one to eat)
B : porridge
L : apple, tangerine and fat-free yogurt
D : sage-crusted pork chop with onion, parsnips and spring greens; yogurt with raspberries
S: 2 squares of chocolateBest wishes to everyone, stay safe and well“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️
